I see now.

In (almost) all other podlings it is at the top of the SVN tree.
IMO it should be present alongside NOTICE and LICENSE so it is obvious
to people browsing SVN.

Thanks for the input. I already made this change in SVN trunk so it'll
automatically be picked up in future release. And also updated the 2013
copyright.
Since, maven puts it in correct place in the artifacts during packaging, I
presume this won't be a show stopper for the release?

The location of the DISCLAIMER in the tar file looks fine.
Minor issue - the text is all on one line. This makes it quite hard to
read; please fix this for the next release.

However, I have now had a look at the embedded NOTICE file.
This is very long - it contains lots of unnecessary notices.

For example, there is no need to credit OpenNLP or UIMA as these are
covered under the second paragaph.

The NOTICE file must only be used for *required* notices (whereas the
LICENSE file must contain copies of all licences).
Furthermore, the N&L files should only contain entries which relate to
software that is actually included in the archive.
The NOTICE file should be as short as possible (but no shorter).

AFAICT the archive does not include JUnit; there may be other
"missing" references.

The NOTICE file must only contain *required* notices for the enclosing
archive - if the archive does not contain JUnit then the NOTICE file
does not require any attribution. Even software that is included may
not require an entry in the NOTICE file if the license does not
specifically require it.

The N&L files are a vital part of ASF releases, so I think this should
be fixed please.

[ANNOUNCE] Apache Bloodhound relaxes access control to its source tree

2013-01-09 Thread Branko Čibej
Following the discussions on members@ and comdev, the Apache Bloodhound
developers have decided[1] to relax the ACL governing access to the
Bloodhound code so that as of now, any ASF committer has commit access.

Of course this does not waive potential contributors' duty to engage
with the Bloodhound community before making changes.

The process will (eventually) be described at

Chukwa's mentor list was incorrect. I updated it.

I've done one of mine - Celix. I'll continue my look at Chukwa soon. From the
report it looks like it will take a detailed investigation of the Mail archives
since there was a retirement VOTE before ...

Drill - A Shepherd's View

2013-01-09 Thread Matt Franklin
A couple of concerns. Firstly and most importantly, there is no report
completed for this period. Secondly, there doesn't appear to be a lot of
commit activity since October.

Mail list activity has been decreasing, but IMO that is not a concern
because of the holidays, just something to watch.

Easyant - A Shepherd's View

Nothing really to add to the report. It appears to capture the current
state and next steps well.

One thing, not all of the mentors have signed off yet.

[RESULT][IP CLEARANCE] uimaFIT contribution to Apache UIMA

2013-01-09 Thread Richard Eckart de Castilho
Closing this vote after the 72 hour period.

The lazy consensus vote passes with no -1 having been cast.

This completes the IP clearance process for uimaFIT.

Thanks!

-- Richard

---

The uimaFIT [1] project has been contributed to the Apache UIMA project

* The code is attached to the UIMA-2470 JIRA issue [2] and has since
been imported to the UIMA SVN [3] and updated with Apache license
headers [4]. A new module "uimafit-maven-plugin" has been added
after the contribution covered by recorded CCLAs and CLAs.

* The IP Clearance form has been committed to the Incubator website. [5]

* A vote has passed on the dev at uima.a.o mailing list [6]

The clearance passes by lazy consensus if no -1 votes are cast within
the next 72 hours.

Thanks,

Richard Eckart de Castilho
