That wouldn't apply to the official source release, assuming the

shouldn't be!) Optionally we can get into vetting the licensing
documentation of the convenience binary, but the VOTE underway applies
 only to the source.

Re: Joining IPMC

2014-11-22 Thread Billie Rinaldi
IPMC,

Josh has been an Accumulo committer for 2 years and is a contributor to a
number of other ASF projects. He has shown responsibility and has taken an
interest in ASF practices and in communicating these to others. As a
member of the Slider PPMC, Josh has learned about the incubator process. I
think he would be a good mentor, and this would be a great way to get him
more involved at ASF. I would be happy to mentor his mentoring of the
potential new NiFi podling.

Note: Josh and I work for the same company.

This is why the vote includes the proposal text or a specific wiki
revision. I believe Benson sent the proposal text for the vote as a follow
up to the original call.

Joe, usually when there are things to change that don't impact the vote
itself, they're noted by the champion as follow ons and then taken care of
after the vote in the podling docs rather than the proposal.

Easy mistake, not a big deal.

[DISCUSS] Rolling shepherds?

2014-11-22 Thread John D. Ament
Hi all,

I was wondering what everyone thought about the current shepherd program?

It seems like we have some idle shepherds, who maybe don't have the
bandwidth to help out all the time. What would everyone thing if we marked
idle shepherds w/ max_podlings = 0 so that they don't get assigned?

With that said, are there any folks out in the community who might be
interested in taking a shot at being shepherds? It's a great way to get
some exposure to the incubator and its processes.

Re: How do reporting groups get assigned?

2014-11-22 Thread John D. Ament
I always assumed that it was based on the month the podling joins. Since
there are 3 reporting groups, the decision on who to report is on the mod
of the current month number against 3, so I figured M % 3 = reporting
group, except 3 replaces 0.

But that's only my guess as none of the guides describe how to choose it.
But this makes it so that the podling has to present 4 straight reports
after entering incubation.

When a podling joins the incubator it reports monthly for the first three
months. When this period ends they go to quarterly. Hence the month of entry
determines the report group.

Proposals - wiki required?

The current way the proposal page is written, the wiki for proposals is

Subject: Wrong release name - Argus Ranger

 Hi Argus,

I was compiling the release list and noticed that yours wasn't named properly.

 /release/incubator/argus/0.4.0/ranger-0.4.0.tar.gz

Per incubation requirements, it needs to be named -incubating -
 please see
 http://incubator.apache.org/incubation/Incubation_Policy.html#Releases

 Can you fix this?

Re: Report Timeline Report Manager for December

2014-11-22 Thread Alan D. Cabrera

I know this is a few days early, but considering we have a few
holidays popping up I wanted to send it earlier than later. If we get
any new podlings in the next few days we can add them to the report.

I'm wondering if anyone's willing to help with some of the report
manager responsibilities this month? To see some of the required
steps, run this in the incubator site svn repo:

 ./report_runbook.py --apache-id your apache id --month 12

I’m willing to help.

Ironically, you and I were running the same steps from the run book at the same
time. ;)

I finished off the bits for November. Thanks for generating December’s wiki
template.

Regards,
Alan
