So far, here's the big changes I've done:

- Split mentor guide into several parts (it was way too big)
- Not converted proposal, and names. Not that I don't want to, but haven't
gotten to them yet.
- Not converted the Eclipse and Maven release guides, need to find a better
home for those. I'll convert those if I can't find a better home.

Word of mouth? Its going to require significant QA to verify. Many of the

The hope is to actually make it as simple as CMS, without requiring the
overhead of infra running/maintaining CMS. Greg's team has been testing
with github integration on the infra site, and I plan to test that here as
well. Basically, you would be able to edit online via github and commit,
as long as you have write access to the repo. If you don't have write
access a pull request would be created automatically.

This is all conceptual at this point, mind you.

Retiring Pirk (was [RESULT] [VOTE] Retire the Pirk podling)

2017-04-18 Thread Josh Elser
Just wanted to give a heads-up that I pushed forward with this process
today. I made the administrative changes that I could (e.g.
incubator-site, dist.a.o cleanup, RETIRE.txt in scm).

I believe we're presently waiting on INFRA to do the rest of the cleanup
[1].

Thanks folks. Will push the podling through the retirement steps.

Folks,

The Pirk PPMC have recently voted unanimously to retire the podling.
This decision, while heavy-hearted, comes on the tails of months of no
development with no change on the horizon.

Context for those interesting in reading: DISCUSS [1], VOTE [2],
RESULT [3].

[ ] +1: Retire Pirk
[ ] -1: Do not retire Pirk because

Here's my +1 (binding)

Coming to ApacheCON? Showcase your project at a Podling Shark Tank!

2017-04-18 Thread Roman Shaposhnik
Hi!

if you are (or anybody you know who's passionate about your project is)
going to travel to Miami for ApacheCON we've got an awesome
opportunity for you to showcase your project. Even if you don't have
talks scheduled in the regular program, consider doing a lighting talk
at Podling Shark Tank:
 https://wiki.apache.org/apachecon/ACNA17PodlingSharkTank

You've got nothing to lose (in fact, the opposite: you're likely to get
a prize!) and you will get a chance to receive feedback that might
actually help you grow your community and ultimately graduate to the
TLP status. Given our awesome panel of judges:
 * Sally Khudairi
 * Jim Jagielski
 * Justin Mclean
We guarantee this to be a fun and useful event for your community!

Please sign up on the wiki ASAP. The time is running out!

Thanks,
Roman.

P.S. If you have *any* questions whatsoever, but especially if you have
questions on logistics please email me directly.

2017-04-18 Thread Jean-Baptiste Onofré

Hi Roman,

do you think it would make sense to introduce nearly graduated podling,
explaining the project and the journey in the incubator ? I'm thinking about
Apache CarbonData for example.

Thoughts ?

Thanks
Regards
JB

Re: [VOTE] Accept Amaterasu into the Apache Incubator

Any thoughts ?

Hi all,

following the discussion thread, I think we can start the vote on accepting
Amaterasu into the Apache Incubator.

The ASF voting rules are described:

http://www.apache.org/foundation/voting.html

A vote for accepting a new Apache Incubator podling is a majority vote for which
only Incubator PMC member votes are binding.

This vote will run for at least 72 hours. Please VOTE as follows
[] +1 Accept Amaterasu into the Apache Incubator
[] +0 Abstain.
[] -1 Do not accept Amaterasu into the Apache Incubator because ...

The proposal is listed below, but you can also access it on the wiki:

   https://wiki.apache.org/incubator/AmaterasuProposal

Note that we are looking for one more mentor on the proposal.
One concern has been raised about the "Amaterasu" name. We want to move forward
with Amaterasu name but open to change if needed.

Thanks
Regards
