[VOTE] Release Apache Mesos 0.10.0-incubating (RC4)

2013-02-10 Thread Benjamin Hindman
Please vote on releasing the following candidate as Apache Mesos
(incubating) version 0.10.0. This will be the second incubator release for
Mesos in Apache.

-
Changes since last release candidate:
  * Updated configure.ac to work better on OS X 10.8.
  * Added missing license (the only blocker on the previous candidate).
-

Hi Jakob,

Thanks for taking a look!

Adding third party licenses in NOTICE was brought up for a previous
release, but it looks like we missed one. :( I can add that now. I'll
create a new release candidate (tarball), tag, MD5, and sig, but do I need
to cancel this vote and create another? Please advise.

Thanks!

Ben.

It would be great to add accounts 'benh' and 'matei'. Also, what is
the possibility of getting a generic 'mesos' account?

Re: [VOTE] Release Apache Mesos 0.9.0-incubating (RC5)

2012-04-27 Thread Benjamin Hindman
After leaving this vote open for an entire week we still don't have enough
IPMC votes.

At this point in time, I'm not exactly sure what to do next. The community
continues to work on features and bug fixes, and we would probably be
releasing a 0.9.1 or 0.9.2 by now if we weren't blocked on this 0.9.0
release.

PLEASE ADVISE!

Re: [VOTE] Release Apache Mesos 0.9.0-incubating (RC4)

2012-04-16 Thread Benjamin Hindman
Ping.

Hi Mentors,

What's the policy on distributing third party _sources_ provided we've
included the appropriate licenses in NOTICE? Knowing whether or not we can
do this is blocking us from pushing out a RC5.

Thanks much!

Ben.

Thanks, I'll add that.

Is there a document somewhere which describes when something needs to go
into NOTICE in addition to LICENSE? I had read previously read the section
titled "What Are Required Third-Party Notices?" from
http://apache.org/legal/resolved.html#required-third-party-notices but I
still was unclear whether or not anything needed to be done.

Right, I'll add that.

This was deliberate, so as to make it easier to use for both developers
(who check out the repository) and users (who download a distribution). Is
there a policy against this? I saw this as analogous to distributing JARs.

Is the correct next step to cancel this vote, create a RC5, and start a new
vote thread for that? Or modify RC4?

Thank you very much!

Ben.
