We do have PPMC members employed by IBM/EMC and others, though patches from non hortonworks people are very few currently. We are hoping to fix that with good documentation on Ambari project (for dev's and users) pretty soon (within a couple of weeks) so that will encourage more people to collaborate. We also intend to start public meetups to build a stronger community for Apache Ambari.
