Re: [DISCUSS] Graduate Apache AGE (Incubating) as a TLP

2022-04-27 Thread Josh Innis
Since AGE began the incubation process, the project and the community has grown
and matured significantly.

Originally most of team was from the same company working together in the same
office building. Two years later, the team has become an international team
with members from a diverse group of companies, working together to make the
best project and community possible.

Since the last discussion to become a top-level project, the AGE community has
taken on board the feedback provided by the Apache community and worked to
improve in those areas. The team is now more diverse and inclusive as a result
and I am excited to see what happens next for AGE.

2022-04-27 Thread Dehowe Feng
Since I joined the AGE project, the team has grown and the project has
matured into a community of contributors around the world.

Eya is a fantastic addition as Vice President of AGE-- she has shown so
much dedication and passion to the project. Excited to see what is in store
for AGE.

Re: [DISCUSS] Graduate Apache AGE (Incubating) as a TLP

2022-04-27 Thread Jasper Blues
I already have several clients in SE Asia and AU/NZ region who are excited
about this project. Initially they were sold on the ability of multi-model for
a “best of both worlds” where we treat both the graph and relational features
as commodity on top of a battle tested engine.

Now I can tell them that this project is definitely going places too.

AGE has been a fun project to be a part of especially because of the feedback
and ideas from the graph data community.
I would love to see the project moving forward and keep contributing!

Re: [DISCUSS] Graduate Apache AGE (Incubating) as a TLP

2022-04-29 Thread Muhammad Shoaib
Bonjour,

AGE is an amazing idea of creating and managing graph data alongside a
relational database.

Team AGE has made enormous progress since it started. Most of the
opencypher works with AGE now. AGE also provides functions to create graphs
from files.

Team AGE also has a tentative plan for improvements and future developments
and I have no doubt in saying that the team is now ready for Top Level
Graduation.

Along with the technical advancement team has also advanced socially and
has contributors from many different countries.

Furthermore AGE team has developed systematic methods for involvement of
new contributors and all contributions are handled in a well
managed systematic manner.

Based on tease assessment I believe that project is mature enough for Top
Level Graduation therefore, I support the graduation process.

Ciao,
Shoaib

Re: [DISCUSS] Graduate Apache AGE (Incubating) as a TLP

2022-04-29 Thread Viet. Vuong Quoc - CMC Global DE1
Hello,

I am a contributor from Vietnam and I am very proud to be a part of this
amazing project.

AGE is a project that implements graph database functionality on top of
Postgres using extension mechanism, which is going to be
a very powerful database tool that can handle both relational and graph model
data.

This project has been developed so fast with enormous effort and has made huge
progress. I strongly believe the project is good to go for Top Level Graduation.

Best,

Viet Vuong.

Subject: Re: [DISCUSS] Graduate Apache AGE (Incubating) as a TLP

Ciao,
Shoaib

Hi,
This is Kokou from Ghana,

I'm also adding my vote to the Apache AGE project to graduate to TLP.. It
has really been useful for some of us and believe me, Apache AGE is going
to have a serious competitive advantage against other contenders.

Hello,

I have been an enthusiast and contributor to this project since late 2020, and
it's been great to interact with such a welcoming and growing team of
contributors from all around the world.

The technology and project, in my opinion, embody Apache ideologies and is
ready to graduate to a TLP. I'm excited to be a part of this community and the
fantastic functionality this provides to Postgres.

Best,

Being one of the original core members of AGE I can honestly say that,
since AGE's inception, AGE has grown a lot.

In the beginning, AGE was just a small team, in a small office. Now, it is
truly a multinational team spread out over continents with many
contributors. Besides the increase in contributors, the project itself has
grown from an idea, to implement openCypher in Postgres, to an actual
reality that is very nearly complete.

With the aid of our mentors, our project has become more polished and
accessible as an open source Apache project. I would hope that our mentors
and other Apache members would agree with myself and others above that we
are ready to graduate incubation into a TLP.

To my team, good job thus far! To Eya specifically, we couldn't have gotten
this far without you! Period!

Hi, I am one of the developer contributors for AGE Viewer, a sub-project of
AGE.
I would love to see the project become a top-level project for increased
exposure in the market to allow the software to be tried,

Re: [DISCUSS] Graduate Apache AGE (Incubating) as a TLP

2022-05-07 Thread Juan Pan
Hello,

This is Trista, one of its mentors. It's been almost half of a year since they
raised the graduation proposal.

During this half-year, I was able to view their attempts to address the issues
mentioned by IPMCs last time, and their efforts to build the community, release
projects and sub-projects compliant with Apache regulations and licenses.
Therefore, the community got more contributions involved, more releases online,
and more understanding with the Apache community style [1].

I believe the crew is doing their best for this project and community, and
would appreciate hearing more ideas and suggestions from everyone to improve
it. ;-)

Thanks,
Trista

Dear Apache Incubator Community,

Apache AGE (Incubating) passed the Community Graduation Vote [1] on Nov 9
2021 with a vote result to graduate the incubation [2].

After unsuccessfully closing the IPMC Graduation Discussion Jan this year,
we believe that Apache AGE (Incubating) has resolved all the issues raised
at the previous IPMC Graduation and matured well enough to graduate to a
TLP.

Therefore we would like to raise the topic to graduate again for discussion
with the IPMC.

The following is a brief summary of the progress of the Apache AGE project
and its community during the incubation:

-

Close to 1000 commits
-

Added 9 new committers (from 7 different companies/institutions in 7
different countries) and elevated 4 committers to PPMC
-

7 Apache releases (AGE 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.7 and 1.0 and sub-project
AGE Viewer 1.0) from different release managers [3]
-

4 mentors, 13 PPMC members / committers (mentors excluded)
-

50+ unique contributors - Contributions span more than 20 countries
across the globe

-

Developed and maintained the Apache AGE website [4]
-

Created an online user guide updated automatically to support new
version of AGE. [5]
-

Assessed ourselves against the Apache Project maturity matrix [6] and
didn't find any issues

Dear Apache Incubator Community,

Thanks for all the discussions and positive feedback. If there is no other
comment, I will launch a formal graduation vote in the next 24 hours.

Thank you.
