2023-04-19 Thread JUN GAO
Hi,Justin

Through community PPMC discussions, we have decided to use ASF's slack[1]
and abandon the previous slack[2].

We have redirected the Slack links on our website, Github, and documents to
new links and synchronized this matter with the community[3]. There are
some chat messages in the previous slack, and I have synchronized them to
the users email list[4] for archiving.

Is there any work that I have missed regarding Slack? If so, please let me
know and we will complete it as soon as possible.

Hi, Justin.
You are right. I initiated a statement in the community regarding the
decision to migrate to ASF Slack, and am currently discussing the specific
operational process. I believe there will be results soon.

Hi,

I took a look and I see it’s not a paid version. You do realise you would get
your full history if you used the ASF one. I also see some conversations that
should be on the mailing list. The fact that many of these conversations are
now hidden (all messages> 90 days) is a concern. It is impossible for new or
potential users to your community to discover what happened more than 90 days
ago or for the project committers/PPMC to revisit old conversations.

Hi, Justin

Thank you for your reminder. We have completed the inspection and
correction of these issues.

- The website already has a privacy policy connected to ASF's privacy
policy, We can find it through Home ->ASF ->Privacy.
- We created apacheseatunnel.slack.com < http://apacheseatunnel.slack.com/
>, It is voluntarily managed by PPMC members of the Apache SeaTunnel
(incubating) community.
- Our discussions are all open and transparent, some of which were
discussed in the Github Issue, and we are actively guiding the transfer to
the email.
- Regarding the branding issue, We have made modifications to these
articles [1].

Re: [DISCUSS] Graduate Apache SeaTunnel (incubating) as a TLP

2023-04-13 Thread david zollo
Hi Justin,

I can answer why apache SeaTunnel(incubating) community didn't use ASF Slack,
To be honest, It is not very convenient to create a seatunnel channel
in asf-slack space, because the time zone is different, and the users
in the community are mainly in the UTC/GMT+08:00, usually they invite
users who don't have apache mail into the slack group, users do not
want to wait for several hours to pass.
So I suggested the initial ppmc team to create
apacheseatunnel.slack.com , and it is voluntarily managed by PPMC
members of the Apache SeaTunnel (incubating) community

HI,

A few minor things:
- The website has no link to the ASF’s privacy policy
- The project doesn’t seem to be using the ASF slack - who controls
apacheseatunnel.slack.com ?
- There doesn’t seem to be much conversation on the mailing list
- The project may have a branding issue - looking at the articles here [1] a
lot do not use the “Apache SeaTunnel” form of the name

Re: [DISCUSS] Graduate Apache SeaTunnel (incubating) as a TLP

2023-04-10 Thread david zollo
SeaTunnel project has a very active community, many contributors are
participating in the project, growing from less than 10 contributors before
the incubation stage to hundreds of contributors now.
As a mentor of SeaTunnel, glad to see a diverse community being built, this
project podling is ready to graduate from the incubator.

Best Regards
