Hi Ross and Greg, Thanks. Can you tell me what podling is? I could not find podling in my English-Japanese dictionary. Should be between podium and podocarpus, right? :) Thanks, khirano - To unsubscribe, e-mail: general-unsubscr...@incubator.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: general-h...@incubator.apache.org

RE: This list is for how not why?
Greetings khirano, Can you tell me what podling is? podling is a made up (meaning invented) word that the ASF uses to refer to a project in the incubation stage. The word podling is formed by the root word pod (which should be in your dictionary) and the suffix -ling which means small (that suffix may come from German). See http://www.apache.org/foundation/glossary.html#Podling And http://incubator.apache.org/guides/index.html Allen - To unsubscribe, e-mail: general-unsubscr...@incubator.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: general-h...@incubator.apache.org
Re: This list is for how not why?
Hi Kevin and Allen, Thanks! I see ! podling is an Apache's coinage. It means a project in the incubation stage. Very clear. Now I can tell my Japanese friends all about OpenOffice.org going into ASF :) I was looking for podle in my dictionary but I couldn't find it, it's natural :) pod - podling reminds me seed - seedling Good coinage. :) Thanks, khirano - To unsubscribe, e-mail: general-unsubscr...@incubator.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: general-h...@incubator.apache.org

The precise workflow adopted will be defined by the podling during incubation. I suspect that just came with the template, rather than any specific consideration. Once the podling is going, then I would suggest they figure out what to do. For example, they may want to transfer the OOo bugzilla content over here. Infra could set up a BZ instance for the podling and load it with the old content. That's probably some heavy lifting for a few people, but quite doable. It would provide some continuity for bug numbers, and the history. Hi Ross, Thank you for sending this message from your phone. It's very clear. :) On the other hand, if you feel you can work with us to find the best combined poker hand, please continue with the many constructive discussions here. If we can figure out the how? (or discover it's not *possible* to incubate) then we can get to the vote.
