Hola Rob:

Another history from tomcat-dev:

jk2 ( the next version of jk connector) is reaching Alpha state, there
is not dates in our plan, but doesnt seem very dare, to say that will be
ready for release in 2 months or so, more or less in september.. will be
apr based, supporting ( in his first release ) at least the 3 major
webservers, Apache 1.X, Apache 2.X and IIS 4.0 and up..

change / vote, YMMV. It would also be good to all be using the same
reference source so nagoya.apache.org/eyebrowse for links to mail
archives
where possible?

I guess submissions might as well go directly to me so that the draft
has
something new for people to read. Although as Ted Husted suggested -
discussion of content in the respective -dev lists would probably be a
good
step prior to submission, and some sort of [news] subject prefix would
be
appreciated for filtering. If projects want to further subdivide (e.g.
commons / avalon) then they should organise it amongst themselves.

Could I have volunteers to organise / edit / submit on behalf of each
-dev
list for June? I'd like to avoid a cross-post invitation to all -dev@ if
at
all possible.

Rob

I Disagree completely..

Mail archives prove you wrong, althought many of the more vocal people
here are committers, nothing blocks anyone to give his opinion and his
vote, more this same thread proves you wrong too, i can remember someone
someone was proposed last time as PMC member without being a committer..

I'm not the oldest here, 2'5 years, and my contributions are not bigger,
but all i can say from the history i know, that you are simply suffering
some kind of father syndrome, like those fathers that, when his children
grow up, doent want to loose the control they have over his lifes.

Your children is starting to be teenager, and hence dont feels his
father is so important or has the reason everytime, nor that is the
better and in addition is a little castrating as every father.. Well
time will get you to the right place.., now your children is walking on
the avenue ( making a girlfriend!!! :) and sometimes in the future, you
will get a friendship with him and he will learn to respect you..

Please to start discussing a management for a shared repository, add
whatever rules you think could be good for a shared repository, to list
above

When we have a list of whishes WRT a shared repository management, we
can start discussing the rules itself,

I think is better to concentrate now in only add those rules you
consider necessary for such repository, and later talk ( and vote )
about'em.

Agreed totally,

As i remember the main complaint to this proposal was the different
number of committers from one or other project, this can be resolved
doing a representative vote ( 1 project 1 vote ) in this repository..
sure this is not perfect but it's possible, a perfectionist is
stationary :),

We need to learn a lot first we can do plans, we can suppouse, we
can observe CPAN, but nobody knows better than ourself what is jakarta
now, and much of us are concerned about his future, let's try to build
real community now, better than tomorrow,

At internet timing decisions only can be hard to take in future, let's
go and do it when it's manageable and prepare things to when it become
inmanageable:)
