Re: Webboard: Linux binary available?
Compile mnogosearch, run it as any user and it will work. You just need to create the database and provide all privileges to the user defined in the mnogosearch configuration file. grant all privileges on thedatabase.* to theuser@localhost [ identified by 'password' ] ; At 04:35 04/05/2001 +0400, John Nagle wrote: Author: John Nagle Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Message: Is there a Linux binary install of mnogosearch available that can be installed without root privilege and works with MySQL? Re: Search engine
Philippe, UDM/Mnogo Search is reading the stdout that should contain only ASCII (ISO 8859-X) documents. You define a parser and this parser reads the file provided as argument, and should return the ASCII version. Under Unix, it is mostly simple. I created a udm-gw that is able to deal with most known parses (and after some tests, the selected seems to be the best in their category). With this, Unix (again) can be able to index many sort of compressed files (.gz, .Z, .zip, .arj, .zoo, .lzh, .lha, .ace) and format, even in archives: .doc, .xls, .pdf, .ps, all asciis of course (.txt, ...). Hopes it helps @+/L At 23:25 30/03/2001 +0200, Philippe de Rochambeau wrote: Hello, Does your search engine work on MacOS X? Can you use it with Frontbase (www.frontbase.com)? Sam, I also setup a workaround, but it smells bad :) BTW: you MySQL god...Why MySQL does not deal with accents (I mean french ones at least :-) ? They are displayed and read, but considered as the default letter (e+^ is considered as e, ..) but for UDMsearch, I must provide a search query without accents because it accepts them.. @+/L At 12:01 04/03/2001 +0200, Tnu Samuel wrote: Laurent LEVIER wrote: Indexer memory growth is 10 bytes per second. Big bug in indexer confirmed
Hi Guys, I found a big big bug in indexer. Since some days, I launch my indexing script at 09:00 localtime. Around 10:00, this script finished its stuff (MySQL checks/optimisations, splitter of the results of the previous day, ...) and it launches the indexer for the day (days means end at 00:00). I discovered that splitter was not started as it should be from 18:00 until the end of the day. Looks weird... After investigation, I found that splitter can malloc because my box has no more free mem... Looks very weird... So I checked the memory statistics, and then process statistics and I got it ! Indexer starts with 40 MB in memory per process. At the end of the day (22:00), each indexer process was using...81 MB !!! Indexer memory growth is 10 bytes per second. Looks like a free() is missing somewhere :) Laurent LEVIER IT Systems Networks, Unix System Engineer Security Specialist Argosnet Security Server : http://www.Argosnet.com "Le Veilleur Technologique", "The Technology Watcher" ___ If you want to unsubscribe send "unsubscribe general" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: Webboard: Indexer still runs but search.cgi does not and a small story about the problems
Security hint: if you want to allow public to pass through the directory, but not to see its contents (you can read a file only if you know its name), use as permission for the directory only --x for public. Maybe I mistake telling this. Mnogo is now a PHP module. 3.1.11 patched dont launch parsers
Hi Guys, Is it me or the udmsearch 3.1.11 does not launch any parser ? I put a log on my parsing gateway, and it seems never indexer is using parsers. I also noticed that Disallow Regex are not working anymore. Notes: Same configuration file was used in 3.1.9 in crc-multi and perfectly working. In 3.1.11, I am DBmode cache. This is the only change with LogAddr. Other guys with same problems ? Re: 2 questions
Rick, You can use a remote MySQL server. It works fine. You can index pdf files if you add a mime type for PDF, and of course the parser. xpdf is the best on Unix boxes. @+ At 18:08 16/02/2001 -0500, Rick Roberts wrote: Can I run indexer and MySQL on a separate server from the web server?
