Short-Term: WSS4J needs Both XML-ENC and XML-DSIG. Currently xml-security (in CVS) has
support for
both XML-ENC and XML-DSIG. So we can implement WSS4J without any problems.
Long-Term: IF we need to implement JSR 183 in WSS4J (JSR 183 needs JSR 105 (XML-ENC)
and JSR 106
(XML-DSIG)) then XML-Security needs to be enhanced to implement both 105 and 106.

Hi,
I am interested in contributing to the axis projects
for incorporating security for web services.
I am a little confused about how this effort overlaps
with the other proposal that you forwarded:
http://nagoya.apache.org/wiki/apachewiki.cgi?SecurityProposal
Are these 2 complementary of each other?
Does the proposed WSS4J - which says that a working
prototype is already available - use Apache
XML-Security library? If so, then will the JSR105
implementation replace that (since in the XML-Security
java section page it says that it does not confirm to
JSR 105).
It will be great if you could clarify this.
Thanks,

Subject: [Fwd: JSR 105: Public Review]
From: Erwin van der Koogh [EMAIL PROTECTED]
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
FYI
The Public Review Draft Specification for
JSR-000105 XML Digital Signature
APIs is now available for Public Review from
http://jcp.org/en/jsr/stage?listBy=public
as well as the JSR page:
http://jcp.org/en/jsr/detail?id=105
It's my intention to get support into Apache for
the spec as soon as
possible. I hope to be able to publish a
timeline for this in a couple
weeks. If anyone would be interested in working
on this, please let me
know.
