Re: [gentoo-amd64] Random Lockups on EM64T
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi! Has anyone using EM64T experienced random lockups? We have 10 machines that randomly lock up when using kernels 2.6.9, 2.6.10, and 2.6.11-rc4/5. I'm currently testing 2.6.7 to see if this occurs. Please file a BUG. Further, please try to set up a serial console and monitor it. Might be the kernel spits out some additional information before locking up. Also is there any word on gentoo providing a em64t stage? You can use the official Gentoo/AMD64 stages, they are _not_ optimised, neither for AMD cpus nor for INTEL cpus. Also, the livecds' kernels are compiled for Generic x86-64. [gentoo-amd64] Problem with pam-0.78
Hi, I am updating a system and when compiling pam it fails with this error: gcc -shared -L/var/tmp/portage/pam-0.78/work/Linux-PAM-0.78/lib -o pam_cracklib.so dynamic/pam_cracklib.o -lc -Wl,-Bstatic -Wl,-lcrack -Wl,-Bdynamic -lcrypt -lc -L../pammodutil -lpammodutil -L../../libpam -lpam /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.3/../../../../x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld: /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.3/../../../../lib/libcrack.a(fascist.o): relocation R_X86_64_32S against `a local symbol' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.3/../../../../lib/libcrack.a: could not read symbols: Bad value collect2: ld returned 1 exit status The installed cracklib is: sys-libs/cracklib-2.8_pre1-r1 CFLAGS=-march=athlon64 -O2 -pipe -- gentoo-amd64@gentoo.org mailing list
Re: [gentoo-amd64] Back to the http_proxy

Now, back to the original question, in case anyone has any ideas...I'm trying to authenticate to a Microsoft proxy from the command-line of a Gentoo install. Is anyone familiar with that syntax? export http_proxy=http://user:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:8080 doesn't work. Namely, when I try to connect to one of the mirrors, links2 just hangs at trying to connect Maybe there's another option though. I'm going to try booting Knoppix and trying the install from there next. Just wondering if anyone had experience with a Microsoft proxied connection One reminder tho. Knoppix is a 32 bit distro, you cannot install a 64 bit system of a 32bit chroot environment. You need to look for knoppix 64 on google. Good luck. -- Joe -- Money can't buy everything. Re: [gentoo-amd64] Problem with pam-0.78
IT works if I add it to cracklib, adding it to pam is not sufficient enough. I think there's a thread about this problem on the forums page, and the solution was to revert to an older version of cracklib.
