[gentoo-dev] Need help with gxine (or we can no longer ship it)

2011-11-18 Thread Samuli Suominen
Current stable gxine is not compatible with spidermonkey 1.8.5, and
~arch copy is but it's crashing like:

http://bugs.gentoo.org/390783

If this is not fixed, I'm afraid we can no longer ship gxine in Portage.

If you can help with this, please step in.

Thanks, Samuli

I've seen this before -- has to do with the way performance changed in
spidermonkey even tho some API didn't..

I can take a look after I get the rest of the broken packages sorted.

FYI - enable USE=debug on spidermonkey-1.8.5 to help with this -- it turns on a
ton of assert logic that let's you see plain-lanuage'ish errors when debugging.

PS - sorry for the HTML mail, I can't turn it off from here.

[gentoo-dev] woodpecker.gentoo.org maintenance / outage

2011-11-18 Thread Christian Ruppert
Hi everybody,

as some of you may have noticed already we did some reboot(s) on
woodpecker.gentoo.org aka dev.gentoo.org.

To be honest we/I didn't expect major problems but
as so often there are some if you don't expect it...

So woodpecker will be unavailable again today and/or probably tomorrow
as well.
There is no ETA yet.
We try to keep the outages as short as possible.

The reboots will be announced again (as before) via wall on
woodpecker but you may want to start $irc_client on your local computer
anyway for now.

What we did recently:
Major gcc/glibc upgrade.
Other major and minor upgrades.

What is left is:
Kernel
Baselayout2 / OpenRC

We'll let you know when we're done with it.
