I hate it when this happens.
I have an ebuild inherits perl-app. It pulls in minimal and perl
USE-flags. kinda misleading.

not just the ~30 packages that use qt USE flag. it disrupts packages
that link to them . For example, yesterday I tried to burn some DVD.
Click on k3b icon didn't make it run. I have to run it from konsole
to find out that it can't load /usr/lib/libdbus-qt-1.so.1.0.0 .
I don't really object to #2 but please do inform current users so
thing still work after an `emerge world -Du`

[gentoo-dev] LINGUAS support

2006-05-15 Thread Tuan Van
The other day spyderous was looking for a tool to remove extra .po
that he doesn't need. I recommended him to set LINGUAS in make.conf.
  Then I realized some package doesn't respect that variable (ie eject)
Would it be better (easier) to have portage removes those extra
locales in $D/usr/share/locale/ before merge than patch the source?

The following packages require a new maintainer, some might just be
absorbed into their herds w/o a direct maintainer leaving them to the
teams maintaining those herds, others might face extinction w/o a direct
maintainer.

./net-misc/tightvnc

2 enh, 1 HPPA, 1 ppc-macos, and 1 uncomfirm bug.

./media-video/kino

2 enh, 1 AMD, and 1 dep bug.

If a n00b can't figure it out, I would suggest him start from Read The
Fine  Handbook http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/index.xml. For
example http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml?part=1&chap=2

I think that a lot of people use stage 1 because they're under the impression

recently, to get an NPTL glibc they _do_ have to make that change [1]. If it's
made clear that there is absolutely no difference in the end btwn stage3 +

it.

if you are on x86, there is stage3 for pentium4 built with
CFLAGS="-O2 -march=penitum4"
CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu"
