[gentoo-user] Gentoo 1.4-rc3 on Dell Latitude C800

2003-02-28 Thread Ubaidul Khan

Hi

I am new to Gentoo. I was trying to install
Gentoo 1.4 rc3 on my Dell Latitude C800. I tried booting up with
the:

gentoo-3stages-x86-1.4_rc3.iso
gentoo-basic-x86-1.4_rc3.iso

In both cases, the network card (Xircom CardBus
Ethernet 10/100+Mode 56) is not recognized. I tried the steps listed on
the documentation:

I tried insmod and modprobe, but no
dice.Is it essential to have the network card configuredduring
the installation? Any words of wisdom will be greatly appreciated.

Re: [gentoo-user] bootstrap.sh missin in 1.4-rc3?

2003-02-28 Thread Ubaidul Khan

/usr/portage is empty. I don't see a scripts
directory. All I see is a 0 byte .keep file.

Isthe bootstrap.sh missingin gentoo-3stages-x86-1.4_rc3.iso?
I was going through the installation process, andafter
copyingand extracting stage1-x86-1.4_rc3.tar.bz2 to /mnt/gentoo.
I went inside usr/portage, but there was no bootstrap.sh file. Could
someone please verify?
Thanks
