[gentoo-user] multiple DISTDIRs patches
For those people who are interested in having multiple DISTDIRs, I have a couple of patches for you to test. This is only for people who can patch files and know what they are doing. These patches are not * official *, nor are they likely ever to be. ebuild.sh and portage.py are patched. Make sure you save a copy of the original. http://www.cherrynebula.net/projects/portage-kvh/portage-kvh.html For example in my /etc/make.conf I have the line : DISTDIRS="/mnt/cdr /mnt/cdrw" Note: Some ebuilds hard-code their patch location to DESTDIR, this will cause errors if the patch is in DESTDIRS. [gentoo-user] bug reports sent to ML?
I've noticed that some projects have it setup when a bug report is entered by a user, it is also sent to the mailing-list. Usually this is done with a subject beginning with [BUG]. Do you think this would be a good idea for gentoo? A plus would that people on the ML would see bugs that might affect them and could comment on them here and/or bugzilla. -- Kurt --- There is no good and evil; there is only power. -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list
[gentoo-user] vim patches
Watching the latest vim being installed I was dismayed that there are over 320+ patches for it. Geez almighty. Is someone sending these patches to the maintainer of vim. At some point this is getting crazy. -- Kurt --- There is no good and evil; there is only power. -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list

[gentoo-user] ftp/iptables always in emerge world
Why does an 'emerge world -Up' always show ftp and iptables? This is even after a 'regenworld'. I did a rsync last night... I need/require neither of these... Calculating world dependencies ...done!
