 Hello
 I just installed Gentoo.
 I insatlled also Mozilla 1.3

 I emerged freefonts and sharefonts

When I start Mozilla and go to Edit/Preferences/Appearance/Fonts - Fonts
For Cyrillic
Combo Boxes are grayed out with the message No fonts available for this
langugage

What should I do? Without this I cannot use gentoo. I have to develop
pages with WinCP1251
Encoding and instead of showing russian characters It shows some strange
signs.

Strange... I just checked and i dont have installed either freefonts nor
sharefonts, and i do have many fonts in Edit/Preferences/Appearance/Fonts
- Fonts For Cyrillic

just an idea: do you have emerged xft?

[gentoo-user] a stupid modem hangup

2003-06-06 Thread Waleri Enns
Hello list,

had recently installed gentoo on my tower and have now one big problem:
my extern 56KB/s Elsa Modem on ttyS0 doesnt work.

To be exact, im pretty sure the modem does but ppp or somethink does
not. Heres the deal: it i try to dial in (i tried gnome-ppp and wvdial),
the dialing successes, the connection seems to be there, and round about
1 s later modem hangs up and ppp exits.

here a snip from syslog:

-
Jun 4 17:59:29 [pppd] pppd 2.4.1 started by root, uid 0
Jun 4 18:00:03 [pppd] Serial connection established.
Jun 4 18:00:03 [pppd] Using interface ppp0
Jun 4 18:00:03 [pppd] Connect: ppp0 -- /dev/ttyS0
Jun 4 18:00:03 [/etc/hotplug/net.agent] assuming ppp0 is already up
Jun 4 18:00:05 [pppd] Modem hangup
Jun 4 18:00:05 [pppd] Connection terminated.
Jun 4 18:00:05 [/etc/hotplug/net.agent] assuming ppp0 is already down
Jun 4 18:00:06 [pppd] Exit.

has someone experienced the same problem? What can i do?

_any_ advice appreciated,
wenns
