[gentoo-user] ~OT - Peer to peer application filtering
I work for a company who services several smaller rural school districts. Needless to say, the schools are very concerned about file sharing from their networks, for legal and moral reasons. The point being, I am looking for a way to filter p2p apps with the linux gateways they have in place. These servers are soon to be converted to gentoo because, well, I just feel more comfortable with it than other distros. Being that the commercial solutions are price prohibitive, I am looking for an open source alternative. Does anyone know of, or have any experience with any OSS p2p filtering solutions? Now that I got that long winded bit out, TIA --reno -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list
[gentoo-user] Apache/mod_mono... maybe a little OT..but it is running on gentoo :)
I was working on getting mod_mono setup to run on vhosts a while back, got it all running, and had some "issues" with server hardware before I could get a decent backup. I've been thinking about this for a while now and I have a couple of questions. 1. Can mod_mono be configured like mod_php? What I mean is, can I set mod_mono up to have apache parse asp.net stuff anywhere I might have a web accessible directory? Just as apache will parse any php code no matter where it is accessed and requires no special setup on any vhosts? 2. IF this is possible, is there any documentation anywhere that puts it in clear terms? I have googled for several things, and all the docs I come up with seem to have gaps, and I can never get things to work quite right. Any info will be greatly appreciated. [gentoo-user] vanilla sources on amd64
I'm trying to use vanilla sources 2.4.23 on my amd64 box. I installed with the 2.6 cd. 2.6 will boot fine, with the exception of my network card won't work. 2.4.23 stops, and says NMI recieved, dazed and confused, will try to go on. You probobly have a problem with your RAM chips. This is very unlikely that i have any hardware issues, seeing that it all works fine with other OS's (win xp and freebsd) Any fix? Re: [gentoo-user] NIC modules not working
I have tried all three listed there, a natsemi based card (netgear fa311/312) a tulip based card (kingston KNE110 TX) and a 3com 3c905b (3c59x module) All have the same result. I have used these cards before, and they alos work fine in windows, so i know the cards aren't bad. Would be strange for all 3 to fail at the same time anyway. --reno - Original Message - From: "Brett I. [gentoo-user] NIC modules not working
Ok, i'm on a fresh install of 2.6 AMD64. I _thought_ i had a bad NIC for a while, but, it seems that every card i build a module for (tulip, natsemi, 3c59x) fails. I.E. will not work. I tried using DHCP to configure, but no luck, so i tried a static config, and no traffic. sure enough, there is no eth0 on my system to be used. Is there a trick to getting NICs to work with 2.6/AMD64 that i'm not doing? I'm using an Athlon64 3200+ and an ASUS k8v deluxe mobo. TIA --reno -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list
