[gentoo-user] Playing .avi files in kde

2003-10-04 Thread Paulo da Silva
Hi.

I cannot play .avi files in kde. kaboodle is invoked but blocks!
I think I need to emerge something else and recompile kdemultimedia.
What is missing? .avi files are well played in a Mandrake distro I have
in another computer. So, it would be nice to have the same program.
Thanks for any help.

i don't know much about kaboodle, but mplayer is just awesome. emerge
kmplayer if you want a kde-like interface as well.

That's better I got mail again!

Try kmplayer or xine. They both play .avi's If you chose kmplayer, use
version 0.8 (was due to be unmasked today)

Yes, I can confirm that kmplayer-0.8 plays avi files well in kde. I
used to use avifile, but the current version in portage plays the video
but no audio (even when started `artsdsp aviplay`)
