ssh should take care of the "xhost" issue I would stop messing with the
configs and se if you can get it to go over the command line first,
did you try something simple like:

ssh -X -l (user) (host.address)
...your key...or password.

then:
xeyes &

or something

That doesn't work either, this is the error message:
_X11TransSocketOpen: socket() failed for tcp
_X11TransSocketOpenCOTSClient: Unable to open socket for tcp
_X11TransOpen: transport open failed for tcp/localhost:13
Error: Can't open display: localhost:13.0
