Re: [gentoo-user] YahooPOPS

fetchyahoo is great, but I want[ed] a pop gateway [ala hotwayd] because
then I could apply evolution's filters to it. evo only seems to apply
filters [shell command: spamc -f -c] to mail it retrieves.

Anyway, I just created a luser whose only responsibility is to fetch all
my webmail and I then pop it from there with qpopper.

  Knock yourself out. :) You can easily develop ebuilds in your local
  portage (PORTDIR_OVERLAY in make.conf i believe), then submit them via
  bugs.gentoo.org.

  It might be worth checking to see if there is already an ebuild
  submitted on the bugs site.

Seems yahoopops has issues with gcc 3.x or something. I'm don't care
enough to pursue it further.

I have following in my .fetchyahoorc and it simply pipes all mail to
procmail which filters them using spamassassin.

use-spool = 1
spool = /usr/bin/procmail

Hmm, did you pay yahoo? I get:
-ERR Error logging in. Please visit http://mail.yahoo.com;

You must have a premium setup. Or maybe you're making a political
statement...

 Hi,

 I may be missing something, but setting my Mozilla Messenger to fetch

 I like POP access to my old webmail accounts. It makes evolution happy
 too.

Or he doesn't have a .com account. For example, if you get a yahoo.com.ar, you
can use pop, forwarding, and smtp... The wonders of living in Argentina ;-)

 It means that when I suscribed to Yahoo!, I asked to receive special
 offers from Yahoo! Mail. (I do not receive a lot of those, maybe one per
 month...). This choice gave me access to Yahoo! Direct, which give
 access to mail forwarding and POP access... It has been configured since
 september, so I forgot some of the details...

Yup... Just like @yahoo.com.ar. They let you use pop3 and smtp if you accept
their spam ;-)
