I had read that the pentium m is more archetectually similar to the
pentium3 than the pentium4, wheras it is more functionally similar (in
respect to instruction sets, etc.) to the pentium4. I'm using pentium3
for my cflags.

Check out the new 2.6 kernels, they have a pentium-m type right in them.

Check out tuxmobil ( http://tuxmobil.org/centrino.html ). It is an
excellent collection of howtos, and theres one in particular that I
think is rather well done.

I just did a partial update of it with my experiences. The only problem
with not writing down as you go is that you don't remember most of what
happened.

For those a little slower than the rest, yes I am self promoting.

I'd recomment pentium3 settings.
I did an gentoo installation on an acer notebook some time ago and
searched the web for the correct settings. I can't find the page anymore
but I read that some features of pentium4 are missing in centrino CPU's
and that the base architecture is pentium3.

Are you referring to the CRITICAL WARNING in /etc/make.conf? I don't
think that applies to the kernel. You may want to wait for a reply from
someone who has experience with something above Athlon-Tbird, though.
