[gentoo-user] metalog versus harddrive spindown
I am using hdparm with the -S 12 option to spin down the harddrive after one minute of inactivity. However, this only happens if I don't have metalog running. This does not make sense to me since I don't log to the harddrive because I mount /var/log using tmpfs. Is there anything I can do about this? How much memory have u got ? If swapping is in progress it can't work. Shutdown Xfree, disable swap and check it again. If it works, your PC probably needs more MEM. noro -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list
