[gentoo-user] mplayer stalling after a second

hi all 

I have a problem with maplayer lately. It used to work fine, but now when I try to 
play a file it playes for a second then stops. 
I can forward and reverse fine and it playes for a second then stops again 

anybody seen this problem ?

nope ... everything seems to run fine in xine ... 
but I prefer mplayer

  does "strace -f mplayer testmovie.mpg" show anything interesting as
  mplayer stops?
