exactly. I have yet to get it working. changes in the way portage works have meant that instructions like below do not (and have not for some time) work for emerge and distcc. Local compiles yes, but not emerge's. Is there a definitive guide out there to get distcc working on gentoo? I still have yet to get it working after various attempts, and there is conflicting advice in the forums on the issue. kev ->-Original Message- ->From: Pat Double [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ->Sent: Monday, March 03, 2003 5:48 AM ->To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED] ->Subject: Re: [gentoo-user] distcc not distributing compilation. -> -> ->-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- ->Hash: SHA1 -> ->On Monday 03 March 2003 01:49 am, Mike Diehl wrote: ->> MAKEOPTS="-j 4" -> ->Pardon me if I'm incorrect, but does "-j 4" work with a space in ->it, or does ->it need to be "-j4" (no space) ? There is information in the distcc changelog and ebuild, this applies if you are using ~x86. Distcc doesn't work that well kde 3.1 you will turn it off and on as needed. Yes, I've started the server on the other machines. I should have mentioned that one. As I understand it, port 3632 used to be the default. The version I have defaults to 4200 as confirmed with netstat. I take it that the syntax of the changes I made to /etc/make.conf looked ok, then G. This is going to take a long time to compile kde without distcc working. Oh wait, it already HAS! Thanx, Mike Diehl. -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list
