This means it's in the unstable branch. Although it is recommended that you wait until it enters stable, you can override this with: ACCEPT_KEYWORDS=~x86 emerge kde-meta Keep in mind that it probably still has some bugs that have not been fixed, hence the unstable label. emerge kwin I've done that - no improvement. /usr/kde/3.4/share/apps/kwin/plastik.desktop is definitely there, but plastik (and the other .desktop files in the same directory) aren't there. I'm in the same boat. I build kde-meta after adding them to my /etc/portage/package.kewords file. What I did was remove them from teh file, and now I can update the system. Perhaps theres a Beta Bug track for kde that you might want to look at and see if the bug is listed there? Your question sounded like you were reporting a bug on a release product.
