That's correct.

rdesktop connects to a Windows host (usually) and Windows changes the
cursor depending on what it is hovering over. It *is* consistent from a
Windows POV

Isnt that a "feature" - its telling you that the area below the pointer
is for text entry.

When running [net-misc/rdesktop-1.7.1], I've noticed that the mouse
pointer is sometimes shaped like a capital letter 'I', like when a mouse
pointer is over a string of characters. Sorry, not sure what the proper
name for the character is. While at other times, it is a proper mouse
pointer, shaped like an arrow.

Is it possible to have the proper mouse pointer displayed at all times?

Thanks.

This link popped up in 3 seconds using google:

Old hardware is the best to experiment around withimho.

Backup what you can! Personally, I'd do this on a non-critical
cell phone first to make sure it work. NOwadays, phone vendors
will try to auto-update your phone software/firmware, so do some
research on your exact phone model, your carrier and the different
projects out there that best suit your goals

Many other devices use the same uP so most codes written for similar
(family of) Processors will have codes you can compile and use.
Cross-Compiling is your friend!

SEandroid is way cool, from the folks I have spoken to.

good hunting!

The last time i tried KDE (Plasma Active) on my nexus 7 ot really was pita!

Most of the controls where not really designed for touch screens... The concept
of the freely placeable plasmoids and the windows also was not realy touch
friendly...

Of course you can install allmost any Linux with a multiboot-capable kernel
(which most of the custom-kernels are...) but you if you really want a gentoo,
think about an usb keyboard and at least one bigger iron besides to do
crosscompiling!

Ubuntu? I installed the nightlies about 3 times once a month in the past
quarter year... Always: first update - wont boot again... Give them some time...
