eix reveals nothing, slocate reveals:
/usr/bin/pdf2ps


It worked for the first 4 pages, which is exactly where it died
before.

Any workarounds or other software ideas ?

Um, I had to grab a copy of the file from /tmp
then it worked beautifully.

You could also print to pdf (i.e. create a new pdf from the existing) and see 
if that can be printed without restrictions.
