When I reinstalled my system in April, genlop -c works like a charm. Sometime between then and now genlop -c no longer reports anything when a emerge is going on. It's broken due to some change in sandbox - known issue :) If there's another release it'll hopefully be fixed (currently broken in 0.30.2 (x86) and 0.30.3 (~x86)) -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list
Re: [gentoo-user] Problem with genlop
Hum, because of your post, I began to believe it is not only my problem. And voila! A bug has been filed for it: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99823 It is caused by a change in behaviour in sandbox such that the file /tmp/sandboxpids.tmp, which genlop uses to determine if a emerge is going on, is no longer used, resulting in genlop never catching a emerge. It is allegedly fixed in 0.30.4 There is a patch in the bugzilla thread if you really want the fix now.
