The problem was that slim was breaking in some cases and failing to log in, but not in other cases. The workaround for this - masking the slim[consolekit] USE flag, fixed the problem but also caused other DE's to not be able to handle power management because the login manager didn't have consolekit support. A new version of the x11-misc/slim ebuild was pushed to the tree with a potential fix for this (and with the USE mask removed), so you should be able to remove the unmask you put in and rebuild slim-1.3.6-r5 to resolve this. 1: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=560088 - -- wraeth GnuPG Key: B2D9F759 -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v2 iF4EAREIAAYFAlX3VOsACgkQXcRKerLZ91lTgAD9H5dM1n+9dAAbr/75aSsvDQfp bVeZctMNfTAzDIInK0UA/AvYQBztZxbxHmb5EFIivVTi8lBvrlp1bX8I9lAwrZQw =DcsJ -END PGP SIGNATURE-
