I would like to know too. I don't know specifically what "genkernel --menuconfig all" does but I ended up redoing it, correcting some configuration. In addition when I was redoing the "genkernel --menuconfig all" it copied current (working) kernel in /boot/ to kernel-old and installs a new one. The new one boots OK. The old kernel should work as well, but it doesn't. So I would like to get to the bottom of it. What is being installed in initramfs?
