According to [1] hylafax+ never made it into the Gentoo main tree. So I
suppose you refer to the recently removed net-misc/hylafax? You can
resurrect ebuilds of the latter from [2]. Good luck!

If you end up maintaining hylafax in an overlay of yours, please get in
touch with overlays@g.o. so we can add that overlay to the layman registry.

Best,

Sebastian

I need this application so I installed one via layman paddymac "hylafax+"
however the init script did wasn't install. How to write the init script for
this hylafax+?

If it was removed from portage might it be in sunset?

No, it is not there :-/

Thanks this was the link I was searching for.
I think I was too specific in using 'fax 2 email' or variations of that
in my search string. Now if I get it to send faxes I am happy :)

Konstantin

Uh, I was about to write about how this is so easy on vgetty, and
explain how it does it, and say "maybe Hylafax does it in a similar

The second link is from the Hylafax FAQ and explains how to do exactly
what you ask:

http://www.hylafax.org/content/Attach_fax_document_to_email_notification

Please forgive me if you've already tried this. Apparently there are
two versions of Hylafax, so perhaps this doesn't apply to yours. But
if this is the case, you need to say that when posting.

Has anyone set up a Hylafax server along with a mail system on the same

I've done this Hylafax+Postfix, pretty good.
Googled for the info, Hylafax list was very responsive to Qs

Alternatively, is there another fax package that should be considered?

I didn't find any other fax package and Hylafax is really good so, why bother?
