Re: [Geoserver-devel] osgeo discourse option for mailing list / forum
Open to try this out, as others have already voiced, the user list is already getting several unanswered posts, making it easier to post is likely going to make that worse... unless some people that "drive by" start answering while they browse? My experience tells me no, I don't believe it happened with Nabble, but who knows. It seems one can add some description below the title, we should place there the usual links we have at the bottom of mails sent to the list, along with a clear warning that the forum is powered by volunteers and one cannot expect to get an answer within a given deadline, or an answer at all. +0 /+1 There seems to be advice for importing a mailing list https://meta.discourse.org/t/migrate-a-mailing-list-to-discourse-mbox-listserv-google-groups-etc/79773 One advantage of forum like stackexchange is that it is easier to utilize images and attachments in the questions and answers but we should decide what kind of attachments would be accepted https://meta.discourse.org/t/understanding-uploads-images-and-attachments/275735 A Discourse forum may require more moderation than a mailing list but it is hard to know beforehand. -Jukka Rahkonen- Lähettäjä: Jody Garnett Lähetetty: maanantai 8. tammikuuta 2024 3.35 Vastaanottaja: Nuno Oliveira Kopio: Geoserver-devel Aihe: Re: [Geoserver-devel] osgeo discourse option for mailing list / forum For my own thoughts … I like the idea, and could see running it just as a discussion forum.
