[Geoserver-users] geomLength Filter function

2013-10-14 Thread Paulius Litvinas
Hi,

I found strange behavior of geomLength Filter function for line features.

I want to display length of line as label with the following SLD:

  geometry

But unfortunately length value differs on different zoom scales on layer
preview (default GeoServer) and is far away from real value. Zooming in or
out value is changing by multiplying or dividing by 2 (same as scale).

Tried the same labeling SLD for polygon - calculates and shows good.

GeoServer 2.5 snapshot on tomcat6 jdk1.6 x64.

Checked with QGIS - that line has only 2 vertices (no duplicates).

PostGIS ST_Length function calculates ok for this line.

Am I something missing with GeoServer? Or this could be a bug?

p.s. my data does not have native SRS, just declared EPSG:3346. But same for
line and polygon tables.

Sincerely,
Paul

That's a good idea, but that would make it more complicated to implement.
Will consider it when I have the time to do this.

Ideally, the code should be able to do that on a per join basis: same store,
jdbc type, use joining, otherwise,
use the old strategy (inner loop?)

Ah, you must have straight lines then, for curved lines it won't work

Thank you for the replay. Looks like to achieve the result I wanted is
posible in other way. There was some mess in my SLD for label placement.

It just needed proper label placement with perpendicular offset:

0.5

Thanks again,

It is "normal", in that we don't have the ability to create multiline labels

Adding this ability is not going to be trivial, but if you can write java

Re: [Geoserver-users] App-schema and CharacterString Type

2013-10-14 Thread Rini.Angreani
Hi,

That's not possible with the current joining implementation, as it uses INNER
JOIN between the linked tables - not possible across different databases.
It has to use the old implementation (without joining), which is painfully slow
for large datasets.
It's probably OK for demonstration purposes where there are only a few records,
but for production, I would recommend using joining (with one database).

Re: sorting changes, it was to cater for database views where idExpression is
not specified and the primary keys aren't available.
If your table has primary keys, then it would sort by the primary key in
absence of the idExpression. I also replied to your other thread regarding this.

Sounds good,

I'd almost like an 'override' parameter or similar attached to the datastore
definition that I could then say:
true

Which when applied would use the JDBC connection of the feature requesting the
linkage to this feature.
aka:
Person pulls in CI_Contact, therefore override the jndi connection specified by
CI_Contact (if forceLinkJNDI = true) to be Person's JNDI information.

I'm not sure how possible that is because I have not reviewed the code in that
respect.

PS: i noticed some sorting related changes on the git tree for app-schema
recently, does any of those changes remove the odd requirement of needing the
idExpression table column in the feature being linked to (because of sorting)?

Aha! Because app-schema can use separate connections for different feature
types, it should work with chaining across different databases, but only if
joining is turned off. It looks like you have found a use-case that does not
automatically turn off joining; this is a bug.
You can manually turn off joining in your app-schema.properties file:
http://docs.geoserver.org/latest/en/user/data/app-schema/joining.html#conditions

Kind regards,
Ben.

Attached is stack trace..

Appears to be having issue with sql..

I think I know where the issue might be.. it is possible it is trying to
join between two databases.

(It was)

I have two different databases and two different jdbc connections, each
project uses their own.. except..

An app-schema feature can only describe a single jdbc datasource, so even
though each db has their own version of the 'ci_contact' and friends table,
when app-schema does a query its locked into the one jdbc datasource.

I guess if I want to implement separate db's which share another common
featureType from an external namespace i'll need to have separate
geoservers or have it within a single database schema.

Thanks

Caused by: java.lang.NullPointerException: PropertyDescriptor is null - did

Probably in the style you are referring points to a not existent property
(in the feature). Try to query the geoserver for a describeFeatureType (
http://docs.geoserver.org/stable/en/user/services/wfs/reference.html) and
then double check the used style.

Cheers,
Carlo

[Geoserver-users] ImageMosaic out of memory issue

2013-10-14 Thread Weiss, Kevin
Hello All,

I've been troubleshooting a Java heap space error with temporal ImageMosaic
datastores. We originally followed the tutorials here
(http://docs.geoserver.org/latest/en/user/tutorials/imagemosaic_timeseries/imagemosaic_timeseries.html)
to setup a temporally enabled raster data store. After that we designed a
system which would download new imagery and update the underlying DB table.
The system works as expected until a request for an invalid timestamp is made.
It appears that the GeoServer/GeoTools code begins to loop over each image in
the directory loading it into memory. When we only had 10-15 images in the
directory this was unnoticeable, however now that our collection has grown to
1500+ images it quickly runs us out of heap space.

The code in question appears to be in ContentFeatureSource.java. In the
accepts(Query, FeatureVisitor, ProgressListener) method I found the following
comment:
"//subclass could not handle, resort to manually walkign through"
This comment is just above the while loop that iterates over all the imagery in
the directory which makes me wonder if this is the intended behavior.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Am I configuring something
incorrectly? I realize the simple solution is to not make invalid temporal
requests, but I don't control the external clients and this seems to be a
pretty big flaw in my opinion. No external entity should be able to take down
my server with a simple request.

Thanks,

Kevin M. Weiss

[Geoserver-users] Problem selecting features on Openlayers preview

2013-10-14 Thread beldar15
Hi, I succesfully created a Data Store from a Hand-Made PHP generated WFS.

It works fine but, when I select the layer Preview in OpenLayers, I click on
a feature/icon, but it returns me the whole information of all the features
in the layer, not only the info of the one which I clicked.

Any ideas of why this is happening?

This is the structure of my basic GetFeature Doc:

[Geoserver-users] WPS for lines intersection

2013-10-14 Thread Gabriel Vatin
Hello all,

I'm trying to use GS 2.4.0 WPS for returning the points coordinates of
the intersection between lines. First layer is a vector layer from my
GeoServer (lines), the second is a custom line that can be given with
WKT or JSON, for instance.
I tried two queries :
- vec:Clip > that process needs WKT for the custom line (as "clip"
input), and the GS vector layer as "features" input. In that case,
return is two point very far from my original line, at the end of the
map (lon=-179.99). My line is LINESTRING(8.107 41.327, 9.953 41.327)

- vec:IntersectionFeatureCollection > this one requires a JSON
FeatureCollection for my custom line, and the GS vector layer. This
time, the result is 2 points : the exact coordinates of the input line !

But between the two point of this line, I know there are many lines from
the vector layer from GS that are intersected. These are the coordinates
I want to get.

Does anyone know how to get this type of result ? Thanks !

Gabriel

Re: [Geoserver-users] Tile rendering very slow

2013-10-14 Thread Jonathan Moules
Hi David,
There's a reasonable amount of features per tile. For the busiest tiles
(urban areas), there are the following numbers as an example for the tile
I've used previously in this thread:

Polygons - 16 seconds for oracle to respond - 14,740 features

Feature Lines - 4.4seconds for Oracle - 39,954 features

Boundary Lines - <1 second - 45 features

Text lines - 2.2 seconds - no results.

---

The Polygons and Feature Lines are purely spatial queries with no
non-spatial filters. This is odd because in the SLD, every single entry has
a filter of some sort (all on the same column).
So it seems GeoServer is choosing to do the filtering server side rather
than database side. Yet for the other two layers (boundary and text), it
does the filtering database side.

---

You're correct that zooming in, the tiles render faster.

Jonathan

Re: [Geoserver-users] Tile rendering very slow

2013-10-14 Thread David Winslow
If both the database query and the rendering step inside GeoServer are
taking a long time, that suggests to me that you are simply fetching and
processing a lot of data. Do you have an idea of how many features are in
the tiles that are slow to render? Are tiles at larger scales (covering
less space hopefully implies covering fewer features) faster to render?

The GeoTools version for 2.4.0 should be 10.0, not 10.0-RC2.
Wondering if there was a problem with the release, or if you mixed into the
normale 2.4.0 release some old plugin?

It is "normal", in that we don't have the ability to create multiline
labels with followline = true.
Adding this ability is not going to be trivial, but if you can write java
code and are are interested
I can show you where the code would have to be modified (or you can look
into commercial
support in case you want someone else to develop it for you)

[Geoserver-users] NewLine with CDATA and FolowLine vendor Option In SLD

2013-10-14 Thread Paulius Litvinas
Hello list,

I am styling line object with SLD and combining "newLine"( ) and
true to label from property.

Property [V_SAVYB] value: 1xd500 PE; 2xd200 PVC; 3xd50 PDHE

I replace ";" with newline symbol.

Here it is my SLD:

  V_SAVYB
  ;

  true

...
true

Looks like "followLine" vendor option destroys generated multiline label and
all text is rendered in one line following line object. If I comment out
vendor option - multilabel are generated and rendered but not following the
line.

is such behavior normal or it is a bug?

Sincarely,

Paul

As far as I remember there should be an issue in that GeoServer version
with the Contour rendering transformation which is fixed on 2.4.x
version.

I'm not completely sure, have to verify, but in the meantime you may
want to test the latest GeoServer version to see if it's working fine.

This is because these tools setup the "default schema" or "search path"
before giving you a sql
editor to play with.
GeoServer could do the same, it could be an extra sql that send to the
database when retrieving a connection from the pool.
Of course this would have a cost, it would result in an extra call to the
dbms, maybe we should limit it to sql views... and
not everybody would be happy to have it because of that.

Plus, as icing on the cake, setting the default schema uses db specific
sql, so one would have to setup all the dialects we have
with their own custom way of setting the schema (e.g., it's "set
search_path to 'schema'" for postgresql,
"ALTER SESSION SET CURRENT_SCHEMA=schema" for Oracle, and so on)

Cheers
Andrea

Re: [Geoserver-users] Create SQL View - "Table or biew does not exist"?

2013-10-14 Thread Jonathan Moules
Hi Andrea,
But then surely as I've explicitly declared a schema in the Store that
should be used? I guess expectations may be different between users, but
that's what I'd expect to happen. I don't normally include the schema
myself in any of my queries in any software I use - not even SQL Developer
where I've entered raw SQL - it is always added transparently.
So I think there's a case for doing so with GeoServer. Anyone else have an
opinion?

Jonathan

[Geoserver-users] Problems with Geoserver 2.4.0 and CQL BBOX filter

2013-10-14 Thread fat_mac
I am currently working on a demo where we want to filter information by CQL
and BBOX. Previously we ran Geoserver 2.1.3 but I recently upgraded to
2.4.0. A couple of days ago I accidentally came across a strange behavior of
the service:

For request
http://[mysite]/geoserver/wfs?service=wfs&version=1.1.0&request=GetFeature&typeName=[namespace]:[layer]&CQL_FILTER=BBOX(GEOMETRY,60,-60,70,-50,'urn:x-ogc:def:crs:EPSG:4326')%20AND%20VALIDFROMTEXT='20131009/1800'%20AND%20CONCENTRATION='High'

I get a response containing a single feature (gml:id=TMP_VAMC.12617) with

25.9002777 -24.2019443
61.563888 65.08861

So for request bounds (60,-60,70,-50) the service returns a feature with
bounds (25, -24, 61, 65) which is wrong,

Another observation I made is that requests (60,55,70,150), (60,150,70,55),
(60,-55,70,-150) and (60,-150,70,-55) all return the above-mentioned
feature. This seems very strange to me because the first two are 55 to 150
whereas the other two are -150 to -55 and the returned feature is not so
large to span from -55 to +55.

Anyone else having similar problems with 2.4.0?

Thanks,
// Marcus
