Re: [Geoserver-users] GeoServer color ramp doesn't work for Geotiff

2014-07-15 Thread Simone Giannecchini
Dear William,
I loaded the sample data + the style (not as default but as additional
style) in a standlone binary for geoserver
2.4.7 and ti worked for me.

You can find it at this link (in a few mins...):

http://demo.geo-solutions.it/share/temp/geoserver-2.4.7.zip

Let me know if this helps.

Re: [Geoserver-users] GWC and CQL_FILTER

2014-07-15 Thread Kevin Smith
The paragraph at the end is important:

> If a request is made using any of the above parameters, the request will
be passed to GeoServer, unless a parameter filter has been set up, in which
case GeoWebCache will process the request.

You need to add a parameter filter to let GWC know that it can cache based
on that parameter and what values to allow.

You can check the headers of the response to see if GWC handled it. If you
see geowebcache-cache-result then GWC handled the tile, it may have a value
of HIT or MISS. If you make the same request again, then the result should
always be HIT if caching is working.

You might also run into issues with girdset alignment if you are using
anything other than the standard WGS84 or Web Mercator gridsets. The
client may not know how to read the gridset info from the capabilities doc
which could lead to misaligned tile requests unless you configure the
client manually. If you want to enforce the use of caching, use the GWC
endpoints rather than Direct Integration. If anything goes wrong then,
you'll just get an error rather than an otherwise correct response that
bypasses the cache.

I installed on Mac recently and found I had to install the WPS and CWS plugins

home machine so I can't dig out the details now. IIRC I googled on geoserver

If I modified Geoxacml it was only in passing in my role on the steering

[Geoserver-users] WPS Extension doesn't appear to install correctly

2014-07-15 Thread Stephen Brooke
When I install the GeoServer WPS extension v2.5.1 as described
here the
extension does not appear in the Service Capabilities list in GeoServer admin
UI and I don't see any errors in the log. What I do see in the log is:

...

The log lines with <<< at end are new since the WPS extension was installed.

I also see there is a "wps.xml" file in the GeoServer "data_dir" with the

Re: [Geoserver-users] Possible Image Mosaic time bug

2014-07-15 Thread Max Stephan
Dear all,

just wanted to let you know that I found a solution for this problem.

As mentioned, we are using Oracle Spatial for storing the granule index. In
the indexer.properties file for the ImageMosaic the time parameter was
defined as "time" and upon creation of the index table in Oracle this was
automatically capitalized into "TIME". While this was no problem with normal
requests by time parameter without sorting enabled, this wasn't the case
with sorting enabled (as described in my earlier posts).

So, to fix this issue I altered the indexer.properties entries for "time" to
"TIME" and it is working fine now. The store does not necessarily need to be
recreated for fixing this. It is sufficient to replace every occurence of
the column name "time" with "TIME" in the following files after the
ImageMosaic was created:
- indexer.properties
- .properties
- .mosaic/.properties

After having set the sorting parameter for the layer to "TIME D" or "TIME A"
respectively and having reloaded the configuration and catalog, the sorting
should work as expected.

Regards,
Max

Re: [Geoserver-users] GeoServer color ramp doesn't work for Geotiff

2014-07-15 Thread William Hudspeth
Thank you for your assistance Simone,

For the appropriate layer, under the 'Publishing' tab, and for the 'WMS
Settings' -> 'Default Style' setting, I have selected 'PM2.5', which is
the name of the SLD style I am referring the layer to (see below for code).
The small graphic under the 'Default Style' selection drop down
correctly shows the red-to-blue color range, but a preview of the layer
fails to show the correct styling that you sent me.

[Geoserver-users] Filtering on attributes not in feature_id column

2014-07-15 Thread Steven Campbell
Hi

I am wanting to make a WFS call, where I can get Geoserver to filter on a
column other than FEATURE_ID, is this possible?

In my example, I have a column called Field6 and I just want to bring back
those records with an attribute of 'Private', not those with an attribute of
'Public'.

Any help is most appreciated

Thanks

Steve

[Geoserver-users] GWC and CQL_FILTER

2014-07-15 Thread Paolo Corti
Hi all

I have a cached layer with direct integration with GeoServer WMS.

According to the documentation it seems that CQL_FILTER is a supported
parameter [1].
Thought, it seems to me that sending a GetMap request with tiled=True
to GeoServer, is still hitting the database (in the GeoServer log I
can see the geotools.jdbc logged SQL).
Therefore I believe that GeoServer is managing the request as a regular WMS one.

Am I correcting assuming that CQL is supported by GWC?

On a side note, what is the best way to discover if it is GeoServer or
GWC to send the response to a request?

thanks in advance
p

Re: [Geoserver-users] tomcat7 wont start with -XX:+UseParallelGC

2014-07-15 Thread AndyT
Hi Ben,

I'm new to Linux so excuse if i'm picking up the wrong logs. Catalina.out
seems to show a very likely issue:

Conflicting collector combinations in option list; please refer to the
release notes for the combinations allowed
Could not create the Java virtual machine.

Looking at my config again, i think i may have misunderstood Jeromes'
comment. I have now removed -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC and tomcat7 does start
with -XX:+UseParallelGC

Seems to be running ok now. Not sure where i got that setting originally,
perhaps it was a default. Thanks so much for help

Andy

Re: [Geoserver-users] tomcat7 wont start with -XX:+UseParallelGC

2014-07-15 Thread Ben Caradoc-Davies
Andy,

you have used two conflicting options, -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC and
-XX:+UseParallelGC, in the same JAVA_OPTS. These refer to two different
garbage collectors. For example:

$ java -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+UseParallelGC
Conflicting collector combinations in option list; please refer to the
release notes for the combinations allowed
Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine.
Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit.

If you want try try the parallel GC, remove -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC from
the option list. (In fact I think the parallel collector is the default
for your JDK for server class machines, so will be used if you specify
no options, but it will not hurt to be explicit.)

Kind regards,
Ben.

Re: [Geoserver-users] tomcat7 wont start with -XX:+UseParallelGC

2014-07-15 Thread AndyT
Hi Ben,

It's set in /etc/default/tomcat7

I currently have "-XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC" in there on the suggestion of
Jerome from this post.

This is my current setting:

JAVA_OPTS="-Djava.awt.headless=true -server -Xmx512m -Xms48m
-XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:MaxPermSize=128M
-XX:SoftRefLRUPolicyMSPerMB=36000 -XX:+UseParNewGC -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC"

This is the setting which fails:

JAVA_OPTS="-Djava.awt.headless=true -server -Xmx512m -Xms48m
-XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:MaxPermSize=128M
-XX:SoftRefLRUPolicyMSPerMB=36000 -XX:+UseParallelGC "

Tomcat7 just shows "fail" when starting. I will check the logs as well.
Thanks

Andy

Hmm, that looks fine.

How did you set -XX:+UseParallelGC? In JAVA_OPTS in
/etc/default/tomcat7? If two contradictory options are provided, tomcat7
may refuse to start.

Did you see any errors in the logs or when running "service tomcat7 start"?

Kind regards,
Ben.

Re: [Geoserver-users] Geoserver 2.5 - poor performance mosaics

2014-07-15 Thread Simone Giannecchini
Dear Jose,
a few observations:

-1- a nightly from the 2.5.x branch is not a beta, it is actually the
soon to be 2.5.2. Hence I would use it with no fear
-2- you say the granules are not heterogenous but I am assuming this
does not come from the fact that you opened the _mosaic_.properties
file that GeoServer creates for the mosaic and inspected the
corresponding property. In any case can you share that file?

In the end, best thing would be to isolate a couple of files and a
request to replicate the issue and send them over (even privately) for
a quick check, but first, give a spin to a 2.5.x nightly.

/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-oracle/jre/bin/java - priority 1
  slave java.1.gz: /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-oracle/man/man1/java.1.gz
Current 'best' version is '/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-oracle/jre/bin/java'.

xxx@xx-xx-xx-xx:~$ java -version

What JVM are you using? What is the output of these commands?
update-alternatives --display java
java -version

Re: [Geoserver-users] Geoserver connection error

2014-07-15 Thread Ben Caradoc-Davies
Do you have a workspace called "Fenix" with exactly that spelling and
case? Is WFS enabled for this workspace? Is WFS enabled globally?

Also, the value of options in a WFS GET request is case sensitive. You
must use "service=WFS" "not "service=wfs". But I do not think this is
the cause in the case as you did not make it far enough to get an error.

Kind regards,
Ben.
