[Geoserver-users] Geoserver with very poor performance

2014-12-31 Thread markus . siggert
Hello everybody,

I am trying the Geoserver the first time and just wondering regarding a very poor general performance. After my installation of the current stabele release (2.6.1) on a tomcat 7.0.52 with Oracle Java 8. For my server I use an Ubunutu 14.04 LTS. So far I did not configured any layer or database. Nevertheless when I try to load any side, e.g. settings, it takes very long to load the page, approx. 30s!!! I guess there is any issue but I could not found any hint. I already increased the the memory for my tomcat installation (Free memory: 862.67 MB Total memory: 1007.37 MB Max memory: 3035.37 MB).

Is the current behaviour correct? If not what can I check? For me, the log files does show any issues.

Thanks,

Markus

another topic) Maybe that broke the ImageMosaic?

It could be, hard to tell without examining the actual installation, logs,

I have the same issue. Java 7. But the performance of serving up layers seems
much like 2.5.2 so not a big problem for me.

Would be interesting to see if I need to do something to fix it all the same

To load the page is too generic of a statement.
I can see from the logs GeoServer starts up in 25s, which is a normal time,
from there it should be fast though.

Are you using Firefox as the browser? Try changing it with something else,
you might be affected by an issue
with css gzip compression that makes Firefox believe the CSS file is
actually longer than it is, search
the archives of this mailing list for details

See the archives, they describe a change to be made to the gzip filter
settings in web.xml
to restore good page serving performance
Or, you can upgrade Firefox or use a different browser

[Geoserver-users] Possible getFeatureInfo bug in 2.6.1

2014-12-31 Thread cheesybiscuits
I think I've discovered a bug in 2.6.1 but I need a second opinion. I
upgraded to 2.6.1 from 2.2.5 so as far as I know the issue could have been
introduced anywhere in between.

I have a line layer in Oracle Locator 11gR2 with around 100,000 features
(all 2-vertex lines, no line strings). Rendering a map showing an area
within the layer, containing perhaps 500 features, is nice and fast - maybe
two seconds. However, a getFeatureInfo operation with the same parameters
(bbox, style, cql_filter etc.) is extremely slow - over two minutes. The
issue was originally observed in a custom application but I /can/ replicate
it in the OpenLayers layer preview.

I enabled verbose logging and did some digging. The issue appears to come
from the SQL query that GeoServer sends to Oracle. In 2.2.5 getMap and
getFeatureInfo, and 2.6.1 getMap, the spatial part of the query looks like
this:

SELECT ... FROM ... WHERE (SDO_FILTER(LINE,
MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY(2003,4326,NULL,MDSYS.SDO_ELEM_INFO_ARRAY(1,1003,3),MDSYS.SDO_ORDINATE_ARRAY(minx,miny,maxx,maxy)),
'mask=anyinteract querytype=WINDOW') = 'TRUE'

However, in 2.6.1 getFeatureInfo the spatial part looks like this:

SELECT ... FROM ... WHERE (SDO_FILTER(LINE,
MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY(2003,4326,NULL,MDSYS.SDO_ELEM_INFO_ARRAY(1,1003,3),MDSYS.SDO_ORDINATE_ARRAY(minx,miny,maxx,maxy)),
'mask=anyinteract querytype=WINDOW') = 'TRUE' *OR* (SDO_FILTER(LINE,
MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY(2003,4326,NULL,MDSYS.SDO_ELEM_INFO_ARRAY(1,1003,3),MDSYS.SDO_ORDINATE_ARRAY(minx,miny,maxx,maxy)),
'mask=anyinteract querytype=WINDOW') = 'TRUE'

Presumably the severe slowdown comes from both clauses trying to do the same
thing simultaneously. Perhaps if my line layer had fewer features I wouldn't
even notice that this was an issue.

Does this look like something that warrants a new bug report?

Subject: [Geoserver-users] jp2 images will not load

I am having problems with jpeg2000 support (GeoServer 2.6x on Windows 7). I
have tried to follow the instructions on:
http://docs.geoserver.org/latest/en/user/data/raster/gdal.html

I installed the GDAL extension, placed the files in WEB-INF/lib directory of
GeoServer

I downloaded the gdal-data.zip from
http://demo.geo-solutions.it/share/github/imageio-ext/releases/1.1.X/1.1.10/native/gdal/,
-The instruction said to place these in a proper directory, I'm not sure what
is proper. I created a C:\gdal-data folder for it.
-I then added this to the GDAL_DATA environment variable

Then I downloaded the native libraries:
http://demo.geo-solutions.it/share/github/imageio-ext/releases/1.1.X/1.1.10/native/gdal/windows/
-I used the MSVC2010, but to be honest I am not sure that is the right one.
But, again I extracted this to C:\msvc2010, then I put that folder in my PATH.

I rebooted the machine. When I try to add a raster store, I see an option for
JP2k (Direct). So when I try to create a new store with that, the following
error message appears:

Could not list layers for this store, an error occurred retrieving them: Failed
to create reader from
file:C:\mapserver_data\wms_raster_data\augusta_man_08\tiles\19TDJ290855.jp2 and
hints null

Can anyone advise me on this?
