Writing a auth proxy is likely more work, in the long run, than passing around the auth in GWC, but yes, it's a way. The GeoShield project a few years ago was acting as a proxy, then they switched to using the internal security engine the same way GeoFence does, and they observed a significant speedup, the proxy overhead was higher than the time it took to run the WMS requests... since you are talking about cached tiles instead, beware of how much slowdown this approach might add. We also have a little write-up on why we chose to invest on internal security integration, instead of using security proxies: http://demo.geo-solutions.it/share/securing_geoserver.pdf Ah right, so as an option you could write, and plugin, your own implementation of ResourceAccessManager (it's the interface called when checking who can do what): https://github.com/geoserver/geoserver/blob/master/src/main/src/main/java/org/geoserver/security/ResourceAccessManager.java But now I just read about geofence, is it possible to maybe make this work with rules in the plugin? And delete the data security rules. GeoFence just drives the same GeoServer security subsystem as the internal security, it's just using it fully instead of 30% of its abilities. [Geoserver-users] User Security question
Hi, I'm new to Geoserver and GIS services in general. My role here is as a server Administrator so please bear with and be gentle with me :) I have installed version 2.7.1.1. onto a Windows 2012 Server and was looking to make this available to a few developers we have here. Ideally what I would like to do is make all the About Status, Data, Services and possibly Tile Layers (from the Tile Caching menu) along with Demos Tools menu options available to this group of users and the Settings Security menus only available to the GeoServer Admins. Is there an easy idiots way to do this? I have gone throught the documentation and I'm struggling to find a way to do this. I also have another problem where if I try to create Users, Groups and Roles I have do not seem to be able to have those users login to the GeoServer web page unless they are placed in the default Groups and Roles. It's all turning into a bit of a nightmare. It should be simple so I must be missing a trick here somewhere. [Geoserver-users] problem GWC seed - wms data security
Hi, Ive searched but not found a solution to our problem, We have a couple of data security rules for some specific layers, this prevent us from seeding the layers. We are well aware of the problem with security and caching but the gwc service is protected and all our request goes through the wms and with direct integration. Before we could preseed the layers and then recreate the rules but now we have to update the layers on the fly so we really need a solution. If we try to seed a layer with an rule in data security it logs : Cannot access layer as anonymous We have tried to put a http username parameter in webcachexml without success. Have also tried to temporary gave anonymous read access to the layer. Nothing works. Can anyone help with a solution or workaround for this? Best Regards, Mike -- Don't Limit Your Business. Re: [Geoserver-users] CORS for jetty 6.1.8 (Geoserver 2.x), solved
Hi Dusan and Geoserver community, I have everything running and can confirm that Geoserver is looking in the folder structure pointed at in the config file---when I change that value to something else, Geoserver no longer starts. Still, CORS isn't working---I get the same old no cors message. This is Geoserver 2.7.1. Can anyone think of anything I might be doing wrong? Andrew -- Don't Limit Your Business. Reach for the Cloud. Thanks for the swift reply Andrea. That is really disappointing. Thanks for the help. I’m not sure how to verify the pixel, but heres some more information about how I create the grid. We have machinery to go from one to the other, wondering if in some place in the GetFeatureInfo code chain we are not applying it correctly (something one would notice only when oversampling something like 50-100 times compared to the native resolution) Can you verify there is a predictable translation between pixel queried, and pixel you get in the response? [Geoserver-users] GeoServer Vector Footprints for ImageMosaic Question
Hi, I have a question regarding the Geoserver vector footprints. Reading the documentation, there is are propeties footprint_inset_type=full/border and footprint_inset. If border is chosen, then should the tiles comprising the mosaic be butt matched? I am observing in 2.7.1 that if the tiles have overlap and the inset / border property is used then gaps open up at small scales between the tiles. Thanks. Lonnie -- Don't Limit Your Business. Re: [Geoserver-users] interpolation default for WMS
I actually found that post right after I sent this email sorry. I found that in geoserver 2.7.1 you can set the interpolations vendor parameter in a getMap call. I was not aware that the interpolations setting in the Layer page is only for WCS calls and the interpolations setting in the WMS page is system wide. I found this. http://docs.geoserver.org/latest/en/user/services/wms/vendor.html Thanks! Hi, thanks for feedbacks on the dfx extension. Unfortunately there is no plan for new features on the extension, basically because there is no funding for it. If you wish these improvements, your options are: - code the new functionality by yourself (we can help if you have problems doing that) and submit a pull request - contact one of the companies offering commercial support for GeoServer and ask them to develop the new functionalities (see here: http://geoserver.org/support/) - wait and hope until someone else will develop / fund these new features Regards, Mauro Bartolomeoli 2015-07-08 8:29 GMT+02:00 xmiquel xmiq...@ngeografics.com: Hi all, I have just started working with the DXF OutputFormat for WFS. Since then I have upgraded from 2.6.4 to 2.7.11 org.apache.wicket.WicketRuntimeException: Can't instantiate page using constructor public org.geoserver.web.data.layergroup.LayerGroupPage() at org.apache.wicket.session.DefaultPageFactory.createPage(DefaultPageFactory.java:212) at org.apache.wicket.session.DefaultPageFactory.newPage(DefaultPageFactory.java:57) at org.apache.wicket.request.target.component.BookmarkablePageRequestTarget.newPage(BookmarkablePageRequestTarget.java:298) at org.apache.wicket.request.target.component.BookmarkablePageRequestTarget.getPage(BookmarkablePageRequestTarget.java:320) at org.apache.wicket.request.target.component.BookmarkablePageRequestTarget.processEvents(BookmarkablePageRequestTarget.java:234) at org.apache.wicket.request.AbstractRequestCycleProcessor.processEvents(AbstractRequestCycleProcessor.java:92) at org.apache.wicket.RequestCycle.processEventsAndRespond(RequestCycle.java:1250) at org.apache.wicket.RequestCycle.step(RequestCycle.java:1329) at org.apache.wicket.RequestCycle.steps(RequestCycle.java:1436) at org.apache.wicket.RequestCycle.request(RequestCycle.java:545) at org.apache.wicket.protocol.http.WicketFilter.doGet(WicketFilter.java:484) at org.apache.wicket.protocol.http.WicketServlet.doGet(WicketServlet.java:138) at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:621) at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:722) at org.springframework.web.servlet.mvc.ServletWrappingController.handleRequestInternal(ServletWrappingController.java:159) at org.springframework.web.servlet.mvc.AbstractController.handleRequest(AbstractController.java:153) at org.springframework.web.servlet.mvc.SimpleControllerHandlerAdapter.handle(SimpleControllerHandlerAdapter.java:48) at org.springframework.web.servlet.DispatcherServlet.doDispatch(DispatcherServlet.java:923) at org.springframework.web.servlet.DispatcherServlet.doService(DispatcherServlet.java:852) at org.springframework.web.servlet.FrameworkServlet.processRequest(FrameworkServlet.java:882) at org.springframework.web.servlet.FrameworkServlet.doGet(FrameworkServlet.java:778) at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:621) at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:722) at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.internalDoFilter(ApplicationFilterChain.java:305) at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.doFilter(ApplicationFilterChain.java:210) at org.geoserver.filters.ThreadLocalsCleanupFilter.doFilter(ThreadLocalsCleanupFilter.java:28) at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.internalDoFilter(ApplicationFilterChain.java:243) at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.doFilter(ApplicationFilterChain.java:210) at org.geoserver.filters.SpringDelegatingFilter$Chain.doFilter(SpringDelegatingFilter.java:75) at org.geoserver.wms.animate.AnimatorFilter.doFilter(AnimatorFilter.java:71) at org.geoserver.filters.SpringDelegatingFilter$Chain.doFilter(SpringDelegatingFilter.java:71) at org.geoserver.filters.SpringDelegatingFilter.doFilter(SpringDelegatingFilter.java:46) at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.internalDoFilter(ApplicationFilterChain.java:243) at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.doFilter(ApplicationFilterChain.java:210) at org.geoserver.platform.AdvancedDispatchFilter.doFilter(AdvancedDispatchFilter.java:50) at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.internalDoFilter(ApplicationFilterChain.java:243) at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.doFilter(ApplicationFilterChain.java:210) at org.springframework.security.web.FilterChainProxy$VirtualFilterChain.doFilter(FilterChainProxy.java:311) at org.geoserver.security.filter.GeoServerCompositeFilter$NestedFilterChain.doFilter(GeoServerCompositeFilter.java:69) at org.springframework.security.web.access.intercept.FilterSecurityInterceptor.invoke(FilterSecurityInterceptor.java:116) at org.springframework.security.web.access.intercept.FilterSecurityInterceptor.doFilter(FilterSecurityInterceptor.java:83) at org.geoserver.security.filter.GeoServerCompositeFilter$NestedFilterChain.doFilter(GeoServerCompositeFilter.java:73) at org.geoserver.security.filter.GeoServerCompositeFilter.doFilter(GeoServerCompositeFilter.java:92) at org.springframework.security.web.FilterChainProxy$VirtualFilterChain.doFilter(FilterChainProxy.java:323) at org.geoserver.security.filter.GeoServerCompositeFilter$NestedFilterChain.doFilter(GeoServerCompositeFilter.java:69) at org.springframework.security.web.access.ExceptionTranslationFilter.doFilter(ExceptionTranslationFilter.java:113) at org.geoserver.security.filter.GeoServerCompositeFilter$NestedFilterChain.doFilter(GeoServerCompositeFilter.java:73) at
Re: [Geoserver-users] interpolation default for WMS
Oh right, I forgot that Mauro added this recently Cheers Andrea On Wed, Jul 8, 2015 at 10:41 PM, Bessette-Halsema, Dominique E dominique.besse...@gdit.com wrote: I actually found that post right after I sent this email sorry. Is there a way this can be added to the code? A bit complicated, but not impossible, one needs to modify both GeoServer and the underlying map rendering engine in GeoTools (which right now can only take a single interpolation value, valid for all layers). In order for this feature to become part of GeoServer 2.8.0, in September, the change will have to land on the development branch before August 18th, the feature freeze date (of course, if you are developing it yourself, or are going to get commercial support, there is always the possibility of an unofficial backport to whatever series you need it in). I need a layer by layer interpolation for a wms getCapabilities call. http://osgeo-org.1560.x6.nabble.com/wms-interpolation-per-layer-basis-td4968515.html GetCapabilities? Interpolation does not show up there. Did you mean GetMap? Cheers Andrea -- == GeoServer Professional Services from the experts! Visit http://goo.gl/it488V for more information. == Ing.
