No missing trick, there is no fine grained control to admin menus in
GeoServer.

What you can have is a global administrator, which can do everything, and a
per workspace
administrator, can can admin only data and services attached to a
particular workspace, but
won't be able to access any of the global functionality:

Hmm.. I believe the GWC integration should record the Spring Authentication

Assuming that is the right solution, some coding would be needed to make it work

Writing a auth proxy is likely more work, in the long run, than passing
around the auth in GWC, but yes, it's a way.
The GeoShield project a few years ago was acting as a proxy, then they
switched to using the internal
security engine the same way GeoFence does, and they observed a significant
speedup, the proxy overhead
was higher than the time it took to run the WMS requests... since you are
talking about cached tiles instead,
beware of how much slowdown this approach might add.

We also have a little write-up on why we chose to invest on internal
security integration, instead of using
security proxies: http://demo.geo-solutions.it/share/securing_geoserver.pdf

Ah right, so as an option you could write, and plugin, your own
implementation of ResourceAccessManager (it's the interface
called when checking who can do what):
https://github.com/geoserver/geoserver/blob/master/src/main/src/main/java/org/geoserver/security/ResourceAccessManager.java

But now I just read about geofence, is it possible to maybe make this work
with rules in the plugin? And delete the data security rules.

GeoFence just drives the same GeoServer security subsystem as the internal
security, it's just using it fully instead of 30% of its abilities.
So, changing to it won't achieve anything

[Geoserver-users] User Security question

2015-07-08 Thread Grant Bartlett (Cefas)
Hi,

I'm new to Geoserver and GIS services in general. My role here is as a server
Administrator so please bear with and be gentle with me :)

I have installed version 2.7.1.1. onto a Windows 2012 Server and was looking to
make this available to a few developers we have here. Ideally what I would
like to do is make all the About Status, Data, Services and possibly Tile
Layers (from the Tile Caching menu) along with Demos Tools menu options
available to this group of users and the Settings Security menus only
available to the GeoServer Admins.

Is there an easy idiots way to do this? I have gone throught the documentation
and I'm struggling to find a way to do this. I also have another problem where
if I try to create Users, Groups and Roles I have do not seem to be able to
have those users login to the GeoServer web page unless they are placed in the
default Groups and Roles.

It's all turning into a bit of a nightmare. It should be simple so I must be
missing a trick here somewhere.

Many thanks,

Grant Bartlett

[Geoserver-users] Coordinatesystem issue with MrSID

2015-07-08 Thread Gubler, Ruediger
Hello,

I have a problem with MrSID files.
I created an ImageMosaic datastore pointing to the MrSID files.
In the publish dialog the wrong native coordinate system will be displayed.
I added the correct one into the user_projections and set this as the reference
coordinate system.
See screenshot GeoServer - CoordSys setting.png

In the publish page I switched to the correct coordinatedsystem for Request and
Response SRS.
See screenshot GeoServer - Publish setting.png

The preview and clients are showing the data now at the wrong position
Center around -62.27250, 32.37444 (EPSG:4326).

The description of the MrSid says:

gridsysnState plane coordinate system 1983./gridsysn
spcszone5076/spcszone
planduInternational feet/plandu
horizdnNorth American Datum of 1983/1991 (HPGN)/horizdn

This let me choose the EPSG:7328

If I open one MrSID file in QGis it choose the wrong WPSG:2838 as well and
showing the data at lon -62. (EPSG:4326).
After switching to EPSG:7328 the position is lon -123. (EPSG:4326).

Any idea what is going wrong?

Hmm.. I believe the GWC integration should record the Spring Authentication
object used when issuing the
seed request, and feed it into the seeding threads.
Assuming that is the right solution, some coding would be needed to make it
work

[Geoserver-users] problem GWC seed - wms data security

2015-07-08 Thread Mikael Karlsson
Hi,
Ive searched but not found a solution to our problem,

We have a couple of data security rules for some specific layers, this prevent
us from seeding the layers. We are well aware of the problem with security and
caching but the gwc service is protected and all our request goes through the
wms and with direct integration. Before we could preseed the layers and then
recreate the rules but now we have to update the layers on the fly so we really
need a solution.

If we try to seed a layer with an rule in data security it logs : Cannot
access layer as anonymous
We have tried to put a http username parameter in webcachexml without success.
Have also tried to temporary gave anonymous read access to the layer. Nothing
works.

Can anyone help with a solution or workaround for this?

Best Regards,
Mike

That is really disappointing. Would have been nice if we could “nobble” some

we can open up the rest to the team without fear of them inadvertently chewing
up the system ☹

GetFeatureInfo always returned the raw data (the actual values from the bands),
not the SLD labels,

What you're suggesting makes sense for rasters with an enumerated set of values,

but think of a DEM, people might get rather disconcerted if we returned High

instead of the actual elevation :-p

That said, I guess we could have a vendor parameter that activates the return
of the

labels instead of the values. If you are interested I can show you where to

Hum... quantity = 1 here. So there is a style associated to it. Ah, from
the screenshot it seems there is a translation between
the point you're clicking, and where the GetFeatureInfo is actually picking
the value.

You're oversampling a lot there, it might be the half pixel issue, OGC
wants us to use the center of the pixel as
the reference, most data uses the corner of the pixel instead.

We have machinery to go from one to the other, wondering if in some place
in the GetFeatureInfo code chain
we are not applying it correctly (something one would notice only when
oversampling something like 50-100
times compared to the native resolution)

Can you verify there is a predictable translation between pixel queried,
and pixel you get in the response?

Thanks for the help.

I’m not sure how to verify the pixel, but heres some more information about how
I create the grid.

Initially I create an ascii grid file (below), I then use gdal to create the
geotiff and post the geotiff to geoserver. Do you think geoserver is
interpolating so that there are decimal values in between?

Why do the grids look so different? Again is it how geoserver is interpolating
the grids?

[Geoserver-users] GeoServer Vector Footprints for ImageMosaic Question

2015-07-08 Thread Lonnie Matsuno
Hi,

I have a question regarding the Geoserver vector footprints.

Reading the documentation, there is are propeties
footprint_inset_type=full/border and footprint_inset. If border is chosen,
then should the tiles comprising the mosaic be butt matched?

I am observing in 2.7.1 that if the tiles have overlap and the inset / border
property is used then gaps open up at small scales between the tiles.

Thanks.

A bit complicated, but not impossible, one needs to modify both GeoServer
and the underlying
map rendering engine in GeoTools (which right now can only take a single
interpolation value,
valid for all layers).
In order for this feature to become part of GeoServer 2.8.0, in September,
the
change will have to land on the development branch before August 18th, the
feature
freeze date (of course, if you are developing it yourself, or are going to
get commercial
support, there is always the possibility of an unofficial backport to
whatever series
you need it in).

I need a layer by layer interpolation for a wms getCapabilities call.

Re: [Geoserver-users] interpolation default for WMS

2015-07-08 Thread Bessette-Halsema, Dominique E
I actually found that post right after I sent this email sorry. I found that
in geoserver 2.7.1 you can set the interpolations vendor parameter in a getMap
call. I was not aware that the interpolations setting in the Layer page is
only for WCS calls and the interpolations setting in the WMS page is system
wide.

I found this.

Thanks!

[Geoserver-users] Geoserver dxf

2015-07-08 Thread xmiquel
Hi all,
I have just started working with the DXF OutputFormat for WFS.

The extension works well and reasonably fast, but I wonder if there is a
plan to add the text output type in the dxf file.

Support for Oracle oriented geometries would be also awesome.

Thanks in advance.

2015-07-08 Thread Mauro Bartolomeoli
Hi, thanks for feedbacks on the dfx extension.

Unfortunately there is no plan for new features on the extension, basically
because there is no funding for it.

If you wish these improvements, your options are:
 - code the new functionality by yourself (we can help if you have problems
doing that) and submit a pull request
 - contact one of the companies offering commercial support for GeoServer
and ask them to develop the new functionalities (see here:
http://geoserver.org/support/)
 - wait and hope until someone else will develop / fund these new features

Regards,
Mauro Bartolomeoli
