Re: [Geotools-devel] 15.0 Release blog draft

2016-05-30 Thread Jody Garnett
Thanks Devon,

I looked through the geosoliutions blog to see if there were any relavant
developments to highlight in the "About GeoTools 15" section and did not
find anything. By the same token Justin and Kevin were working on YSLD, but
it still a community module at this point in time.

So not much RnD to report

Checking this API change compatibility report:
http://abi-laboratory.pro/java/tracker/timeline/geotools/

Can see jdbc sequence change, image moasic foot print generation, aggregate
groupby, and some small changes for Java 8

Right now FunctionBuilder has ways to build a single function call, but it's impossible to write a working nested function call as the nested one cannot be "ended" like the normal function params

Thanks Jody, thank you all.

So I think we are good here, with a +1 from each of the three projects.

I am going to finish up the 2.9 release with Devon and we can do a
similar sanity check when he is in position to volunteer for a release.

Hi all,
I would like to formally introduce the community to Alessandro
Parma, our devops specialist
that has been keeping in running form, among the other things, the
official windows and openjdk
build servers, along with the bleeding edge GeoServer demo server
from GeoSolutions (updated daily from
2.9.x nightlies now, see
http://demo.geo-solutions.it/geoserver/web/ ).

Alessandro is eager ( :-p ) to help with releases and we would
like to propose him as the
release manager for the gt 14.4/gwc 1.8.3/gs 2.8.4 release train.

We are clearly in need of help in this area, however, it also
means Alessandro needs to be
given commit rights in all projects involved (thus the 3 way cross
posting, apologies for that),
and admin rights in jira and probably sourceforge.
So we'll need a +1 from a representative of each of the 3 projects.

Let us know if you have any question

Cheers
Andrea
