In general I'd say yes, may be best to check what Centos is shipping with
currently as they are often far behind the curve

Hi,
I don't know about CentOS, but though I'd look for the oldest supported
Ubuntu server, 12.04 [1], it seems it it was shipping with 8.4,
so good from this side

[Geotools-devel] Windows builds?

2017-05-31 Thread Ben Caradoc-Davies

Andrea,

how broken are the GeoSolutions Windows builds? Without them we have no
Windows unit test coverage. I want to tinker with URLs.urlToFile
[GEOT-5738] but it contains a bunch of Windows-specific cases and I am
reluctant to touch them without unit test coverage:

https://osgeo-org.atlassian.net/browse/GEOT-5738

Any objection to me turning on the Windows builds? My login still works.
I will disable email notification.

geotools-master last ran one month ago and last passed 11 months ago.
The last failures were rendering differences in gt-svg:

org.geotools.renderer.lite.DrawTest.testParametricOnlyFill
java.lang.AssertionError: Images are visibly different, found 64708
different pixels, against a threshold of 1000

org.geotools.renderer.lite.DrawTest.testParametricAllValues
java.lang.AssertionError: Images are visibly different, found 64749
different pixels, against a threshold of 1000

Many if not most beginners start on Windows. I heard that at the CalGIS
GeoServer session, 90% of users were on Windows. Is there any point in
shipping Windows builds if we do not run the tests? All the feedback we
have is patient bug reporting from users (especially Jukka).

Kind regards,

Hard to say, we only get failures in one module and then the build stops.
I'd say at least a couple in GeoTools, but
there can be more.

Lots of it, since we are programming in Java and failures are often in the
test itself. There are several production environments that are working on
Windows, we are "simply" lacking someone that gives a damn about it outside
of paid contracts. In other words, we need a core developer working on that
platform.
I already served that role for years (around 10 years ago, for some 2-3
years), and tried again for around 6 months a couple of years ago.
Not looking forward to repeat it, Windows just does not agree with me (that
said, I'm available to spend working hours time on such environment, on a
as needed basis) :-)

I believe we're still making due in a decent way, even it's a long shot
away from being ideal.

NoData may change across image operations. Think about a DEM with floating point numbers (and noData = -) being rescaled to byte. The nodata should be updated accordingly to the data type and the rescale operation should not map valid values to it. In addition, with JAI-EXT enabled (supporting roi and nodata) some operations support remapping an input noData to a destinationNoData. The ImageWorker should update the NoData accordingly.

The legacy Ares server is being replaced by a new/improved build server known as Apollo. We're unable to deploy build artifacts to "geotools.org" at this time. From what I can gather, the server there uses a public key file /etc/ssh/ssh_host_rsa_key. We need the Apollo public key added to this file to deliver the builds. The key has been added to /home/geotools/.ssh/authorized_keys. It is also below: ssh-rsa B3NzaC1yc2EDAQABAAABAQDpAbNuNhile/uGIp/yzBJqVFl1Ce2kwLp1gun21j/x+mIj4W4QdpF5nmfkY2LJCa+Al/dtgmKtgnCzIouNiUw9OEZGmFRxx3M3Lv8XkyGaNlasgDlzP0sLryjSzv2dlcRsTLpk2JHEWQrz1eBjMv/J1Bt0EVZwJd3kfxJEPdroRCNG/V96O9ULEhXUHnJlr3XJLbfY+hDpbY1Ockq1V26xw8dP35rywAHLSnPRcgSm6cMadfevx+wlQLbHmScbV0GYNmzyfym3PWmJnOWaoI3e39y/aU8sJAzsuL3qq5hfBvEI3uAwPWse77SdIlpiXh6Ve6TJ3RTt8a5aXQj5luY7 r...@apollo.boundlessgeo.com

Re: [Geotools-devel] Windows builds?

2017-05-31 Thread Ben Caradoc-Davies

Alessandro,

the git checkout failed with "No space left on device":
http://winbuild.geo-solutions.it/jenkins/job/GeoTools-Master/1489/consoleText

Is the Jenkins slave disk full?

Kind regards,
Ben.

Andrea,

how broken are the GeoSolutions Windows builds? Without them we have no
Windows unit test coverage. I want to tinker with URLs.urlToFile

[GEOT-5738]

but it contains a bunch of Windows-specific cases and I am reluctant to
touch them without unit test coverage:
https://osgeo-org.atlassian.net/browse/GEOT-5738

Any objection to me turning on the Windows builds? My login still works.

I

will disable email notification.

geotools-master last ran one month ago and last passed 11 months ago. The
last failures were rendering differences in gt-svg:

org.geotools.renderer.lite.DrawTest.testParametricOnlyFill
java.lang.AssertionError: Images are visibly different, found 64708
different pixels, against a threshold of 1000

org.geotools.renderer.lite.DrawTest.testParametricAllValues
java.lang.AssertionError: Images are visibly different, found 64749
different pixels, against a threshold of 1000

Many if not most beginners start on Windows. I heard that at the CalGIS
GeoServer session, 90% of users were on Windows. Is there any point in
shipping Windows builds if we do not run the tests? All the feedback we

have

is patient bug reporting from users (especially Jukka).

Kind regards,
