Not too much, it's normally mostly a run script and wait thing, then write
wiki
pages, blogs and mails around to tell the world about it.

That said, it also sometimes happens it gets more involved, if something in
the
scripts is not working. It's possible to get out of it, all the release
scripts are
in github so one can go and fix them directly

Ian I would be happy to shadow you for one - it is automated abut someone still
needs to drive.

I would recommend signing up for a stable release as the most effort needs to
go into making up the release announcement.

 Hi all,
I've tried to lay out a tentative release schedule for the next six months:

The slots for the release managers need to be filled, please jump on it :-)

Development wise I've tried to keep the same schedule as 9.0/2.3.0, which is
not exactly what we planned, but seemed to work well and give us 4 months of
effective develoment before the first beta

 Feedback much appreciated :-)

I don't get the tread lightly part. Do you mean, relax the relases and
end up releasing the final after FOSS4G?
The current release schedule puts the final right in the FOSS4G days, while
this adds extra effort, it also makes
for extra splash during the presentations
