[gep-ed] [HIRING] Multiple research positions at UNC-Chapel Hill / Data-Driven EnviroLab

2020-09-14 Thread Angel Hsu
Hi GEP-ed,

I have 3 open positions in my group for recent BA/BS, Masters or PhD grads
looking to sharpen their research and data-science skills applied to a
range of applied projects in climate policy, sustainable urbanization, and
emerging digital technologies for governance.

The positions are slated to start Jan. 1, 2021 and UNC has informed me
there is some initial flexibility for remote work within the U.S. pending
the COVID situation. More details are available at:
http://datadrivenlab.org/positions/. I hope to make offers by November so
the sooner interested candidates can apply the better.

Please circulate to those interested and feel free to get in touch directly
with me.

Many thanks,
Angel

[gep-ed] What lessons does a 1972 conference hold amid global environmental crises?

2020-09-14 Thread Pamela Chasek
Hi everyone:

I'm happy to announce a new series of policy briefs leading up to the 50th
anniversaries of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment and the
UN Environment Programme in June 2022.

These briefs are written with undergraduate and graduate students in mind,
as well as for policy makers. The first was launched today and we should be
publishing new briefs about twice a month.

I hope you find them useful in your teaching.

Regards,

Pam

*ENB Launches 'Still Only One Earth' Policy Brief Series*

As humanity confronts multiple global crises, it is critical to take stock
of how environmental progress has been fostered in the past and how to
leverage those lessons to rebuild multilateral cooperation in a post-COVID
world.

In the lead up to the 50th anniversaries of the Stockholm Conference on the
Human Environment and the UN Environment Program in June 2022, the Earth
Negotiations Bulletin team is writing a series of reports assessing the
successes and shortcomings of five decades of global environmental policy.
The Still Only One Earth policy brief series aims to build on the message
of the landmark 1972 UN report that reminded humanity we have no other home
but this planet.
