We seek candidates who have completed a Ph.D. in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline. We invite applications from candidates in any subfield of ecology, and those with expertise in urban ecology, agroecology, plant science, horticulture, conservation biology, and/or socio-ecological systems are especially encouraged to apply. Knowledge about local vegetation patterns and permaculture practices is desirable. As a Professor of Practice, teaching will be a primary component of the position. The successful candidate will be expected to design and implement a first-year Core Course in Experimental Discovery as part of their teaching obligations, in addition to contributing to the interdisciplinary curriculum in Environmental Studies. The successful candidate will also play a key role in managing the 400-sq-meter Edible Garden and Farm Lab on the rooftop of the new Qiantan campus, in close consultation with a committee of faculty, staff, and students. There will be opportunities to contribute to the Zaanheh Project<https://zaanheh.research.shanghai.nyu.edu/>, which is an interdisciplinary research undertaking that spans from the sedimentary history of the lower Yangtze delta to the social evolution of human settlements in the region. This is a Full-Time Continuing Contract position. Candidates must have completed their Ph.D. by the time of appointment in September 2023. Typical appointments are on 3-year terms with expected teaching loads of 4 courses per academic year.
