The Carbon Removal Debate: A New ICRLP Report

The second report of our carbon removal briefing paper series, "The Carbon
Removal Debate," examines how carbon removal methods have suddenly appeared on
the climate agenda & argues for a more honest debate about their uncertainties.
Prepared by communications scholar Matthew
Nisbet<https://camd.northeastern.edu/faculty/matthew-c-nisbet/>, this report
builds on two events held by ICRLP to solicit critical feedback. The Consortium
for Science, Policy and Outcomes at Arizona State University co-hosted the
first event with us (see video
here<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lax9ZEq006s&t=929s>) and the second
meeting was convened in Boston (see meeting report
here<https://www.american.edu/sis/centers/carbon-removal/upload/boston-workshop-report_final.pdf>).

Upcoming in 2020

The new year will bring many exciting additions to ICRLP. Our team will be
joined by two postdocs who will work to improve modeling of carbon removal in
IAMs.

Be on the lookout for an exciting new carbon removal podcast series that we
will begin early in the new year. Additionally, our webinar series will pick
back with a session on enhanced weathering.

We look forward to continued engagement and research in the new year and as
always please feel free to reach out if you would like to become more involved
in the Institute or have any questions or comments. Happy New Year from all of
us at the Institute for Carbon Removal Law and Policy!

Team Spotlight

David Morrow

The Institute is thrilled to announce the release of Director of Research David
Morrow's<https://www.davidmorrow.net/> new book, Values in Climate Policy
(Rowman & Littlefield International, 2019). This book offers an insightful
discussion of the moral and ethical implications of climate on policy and how
the choices we make impact the climate change timeline.

A book launch will be held at American University's School of International
Service on February 25 from 5:30-7pm. RSVP to the event
here<https://www.eventbrite.com/e/david-morrow-values-in-climate-policy-tickets-86126409409>!
