One of the best services for climate change policy is Carbon Positive News:

Subject: enviro news services?

Dear GEP-ed Colleagues,

I would like to identify one or more environmental news services that I
can look to for timely updates on environmental policy developments
around the globe. Can anyone recommend their favorite source (beyond
our beloved Earth Negotiations Bulletin)?

I realize that many news sources will be specific to an issue area or
region. That's quite alright - I'd just like to get a sense of what is
out there so that I might regularly follow one or more of them and look
to the archives of others when updating material.

Thank you in advance for any leads!

Paul

The Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) runs a fantastic service
offering around 20-30 news headlines (with web links to the articles)
every weekday, covering issues such as climate change, agricultural
biotechnology, chemicals, endangered species, forest biodiversity and
more general environmental topics.

They used to send out daily emails (to which I am still subscribed), but
now they appear to have switched to RSS feeds:

http://www.cbd.int/rss/

(Look for the RSS feed 'Daily Headlines')

It's a good way to keep up to date...

Best,

Hannes

I forgot to mention that they also have an excellent, searchable archive:

Hi Paul et al,

My favorite environmental news services are Grist ( of course) and
Planet Ark.

With much fanfare, UCB and UCLA have launched a joint environmental
policy blog, purportedly written by law professors (so potentially less
news more opinion):

RE: enviro news services?

2009-03-12 Thread Hempel, Monty
Paul,

I use ENS-news http://www.ens-newswire.com/, the environmental research
web newswire
http://environmentalresearchweb.org/cws/home(environmentalresearchweb,
the Earth Portal's news site (http://www.earthportal.org/news/,
and Planet Ark's world news section
http://www.planetark.com/enviro-news/.

More useful (and fun) for tracking daily news by world region is the
newseum site:
http://www.newseum.org/todaysfrontpages/flash/.

It gives you today's front page of newspapers in hundreds of world
cities, albeit mostly nonenvironmental news. Just roll your mouse over
the relevant cities/regions to see front page stories, then click to
read.

Cheers,

Monty
