ffmpeg-radio-opts
Can I plead for the reinstatement of the "ffmpeg-radio-opts" please? Were they causing a problem for some users? On my OpenSUSE 12.3 system I used them to suppress the debug-style output from ffmpeg when get_iplayer converts from *.flv to *.m4a. Not essential, but a little tidier. I just prefer to not see under ffmpeg's skirt when she's working ;). e.g. supress all this output ffmpeg version 1.0.6 Copyright (c) 2000-2013 the FFmpeg developers built on Apr 11 2013 18:03:32 with gcc 4.7 (SUSE Linux) configuration: --shlibdir=/usr/lib --prefix=/usr --mandir=/usr/share/man --libdir=/usr/lib --enable-shared --disable-static --enable-debug --disable-stripping --extra-cflags='-fomit-frame-pointer -fmessage-length=0 -O2 -Wall -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 -fstack-protector -funwind-tables -fasynchronous-unwind-tables -g -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -I/usr/include/gsm' --enable-gpl --enable-x11grab --enable-version3 --enable-pthreads --enable-avfilter --enable-libpulse --enable-libvpx --enable-libopus --enable-libass --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libvorbis --enable-libtheora --enable-libspeex --enable-libxvid --enable-libx264 --enable-libschroedinger --enable-libgsm --enable-libopencore-amrnb --enable-libopencore-amrwb --enable-postproc --enable-libdc1394 --enable-librtmp --enable-libfreetype --enable-avresample --enable-libtwolame --enable-libvo-aacenc libavutil 51. 73.101 / 51. 73.101 libavcodec 54. 59.100 / 54. 59.100 libavformat54. 29.104 / 54. 29.104 libavdevice54. 2.101 / 54. 2.101 libavfilter 3. 17.100 / 3. 17.100 libswscale 2. 1.101 / 2. 1.101 libswresample 0. 15.100 / 0. 15.100 libpostproc52. 0.100 / 52. 0.100 [flv @ 0x9b55520] max_analyze_duration 500 reached at 5014000 Input #0, flv, from '/DESKSTAR1/bbc/Change at Oglethorpe/Change at Oglethorpe -s01e06- Foreign Parts b007k0vl.partial.m4a.flv': Metadata: moovPosition: 36 aacaot : 2 audiochannels : 2 Duration: 00:36:00.05, start: 0.00, bitrate: 133 kb/s Stream #0:0: Audio: aac, 44100 Hz, stereo, s16 Output #0, ipod, to '/DESKSTAR1/bbc/Change at Oglethorpe/Change at Oglethorpe -s01e06- Foreign Parts b007k0vl.partial.m4a': Metadata: moovPosition: 36 aacaot : 2 audiochannels : 2 encoder : Lavf54.29.104 Stream #0:0: Audio: aac (mp4a / 0x6134706D), 44100 Hz, stereo Stream mapping: Stream #0:0 -> #0:0 (copy) Press [q] to stop, [?] for help size= 34677kB time=00:36:00.05 bitrate= 131.5kbits/s video:0kB audio:33751kB subtitle:0 global headers:0kB muxing overhead 2.744571% INFO: Recorded /DESKSTAR1/bbc/Change at Oglethorpe/Change at Oglethorpe -s01e06- Foreign Parts b007k0vl.m4a ___ get_iplayer mailing list get_iplayer@lists.infradead.org http://lists.infradead.org/mailman/listinfo/get_iplayer

Looks like you did what I did - copied the line from the email. However that had added a line break between the start of the instructions and the URL. Copy the line onto something and remove that line break before applying it. SWF player URL updated in Git HEAD (but you don't need it)
I went ahead and updated the SWF player URL in Git HEAD. The related download problems began less that 24 hours ago, but although I'm still getting a few downloads with the old value it is certainly unreliable. The new value has been working consistently since last night. Actually, the "new" value has been in place at the BBC nearly as long as the "old" value, so I'm not sure why things have changed. But change they have, so there didn't seem much point in waiting since the new value has been stable at the BBC for a while. However - you don't need to download the HEAD version of get_iplayer. As has been pointed out on the list today, the better way to deal with the problem is to add the setting to your options file: get_iplayer --prefs-add --rtmp-tv-opts="--swfVfy http://www.bbc.co.uk/emp/releases/iplayer/revisions/617463_618125_4/617463_618125_4_emp.swf"; I'm slowly getting things in place for another formal release around the end of the month (more about that later), but if you must have the HEAD version before then, this will tell you how to get it and where to put it: https://github.com/dinkypumpkin/get_iplayer/wiki/githead ___ get_iplayer mailing list get_iplayer@lists.infradead.org http://lists.infradead.org/mailman/listinfo/get_iplayer

I've made the swfVfy changes as suggested earlier and now I can download again although it seems to take several attempts at times. I tested this by downloading an episode of Eastenders, however, now I have a problem at the end of the FFmpeg processing and end up with a .mp4 file (playable) and an associated .jpg file rather than just the .mp4 file I normally get. ALL - also, I am reminded of a thread from a while back where I had to find the same info (of course, I re-found this rather later in my current investigation!!) Maybe it can help people again in the future - problem is Aunty changes this so infrequently, it all gets forgotten. http://lists.infradead.org/pipermail/get_iplayer/2011-October/002027.html As for the current situation, my current experience is using get_iplayer in conjunction with a partial-proxy config. I couldn't download ANY HD content yesterday (not even intermittently) until I determined the new swfurl. I was able to download some flashvhigh though. I believe this is attributable to the fact that the only flashhd content I can get comes through iplayertokfs.fplive.net, whereas all other modes seem to be edgefcs.net CDNs, so maybe fplive was affected first/differently? Of course, since the iPlayer embedded media player does seem to have a new .swf, I can only imagine that this will be the new file used for all current/future hashing handshakes across all CDNs... m ___ get_iplayer mailing list get_iplayer@lists.infradead.org http://lists.infradead.org/mailman/listinfo/get_iplayer

Indeed - I've just found the same URL, changed it in the Perl script and the programme is now downloading. I'm still intermittently getting downloads with the old value, so I'm going to wait until tomorrow to see what shakes out before committing a new SWF URL value to get_iplayer. And we aren't actually *using* the SWF file, so we just have a hard-coded URL to download it from. And that sometimes changes ? Is there a way to fix this, in that case? Earlier on it was failing intermittently, but now nothing's working for me at all, despite repeated retries. Re: RTMP failing with send error
I'm getting this same error this morning intermittently on everything I try to download. If you leave it a few minutes and then try again, it'll generally work. Perhaps a problem with the BBC's server?
