Re: [ANN] get_iplayer 2.83 released
Thanks for this. I am on Windows 7 (32 bit) and had been having trouble for a few weeks despite uninstalling/ reinstalling etc and trying to replace the swf file. This update worked a treat with the Windows installer and all now appears to be OK. Just a pity that I missed the last Arne Dahl episode before the fix!! RE: [ANN] get_iplayer 2.83 released
fyi the latest Windows installer complained about not being able to copy a file to a nonexistent "lib" directory during the upgrade procedure... I can only assume the installer deleted the previous lib dir and for some reason was unable to (re)create its replacement... I created it manually, hit Retry and all was good. m > Date: Sat, 22 Jun 2013 23:38:20 +0100 > From: dinkypump...@gmail.com > To: get_iplayer@lists.infradead.org > Subject: [ANN] get_iplayer 2.83 released > > get_iplayer 2.83 has been released. I presume you're referring to the material scraped from linuxcentre.net and posted in the GitHub wiki. It's nothing against infradead.org. I just don't have the time or inclination to turn that stuff into a web site. I only want to be able to bash out a bit of Markdown and get things updated quickly, as well as give other people a relatively easy means to contribute, so wiki it is. I'm hoping it will help a bit with knowledge capture, but for the moment it's mostly a time-saving device. If someone wants to fashion that content into a proper web site, they're free to use the wiki as raw material. It would make a pretty terrible web site as-is given that the content is derived from disconnected blog posts and brain dumps. A proper web site would require more editorial effort than I can provide. Do you want me to take the existing site down, or make it redirect to github? No. As someone else pointed out, the Windows installer needs the web site to function. As for a redirect, I don't see any need for that. I added a link to the github wiki in the get_iplayer page at infradead.org, so anyone who wants to read some documentation can find it if they want to. By the same token, the wiki has infradead.org download links and I've replaced the infradead.org copy with a link back to the infradead.org get_iplayer page, so it should hopefully be obvious to anyone reading the GitHub wiki that the infradead.org site is out there. Or would you rather I fix something else so it can stay where it was? I don't know what "something else" you're referring to here. I'm afraid "010913" has nothing to do with git versioning and it is indeed misleading. "rtmpdump-2.4-git-010913-windows.zip" is the (only) 2.4 win32 binary hosted on the official RTMPDump page, which is: http://rtmpdump.mplayerhq.hu/ When this binary first appeared online sometime mid-January, the latest commit on the git repo here: http://repo.or.cz/w/rtmpdump.git was this one: http://repo.or.cz/w/rtmpdump.git/commit/3a1e20c08cc4f7ad8b6684fadd0bfb4420376809 The 3 latest after this, dated 2012-12-30, did not make it to the repo until much later, possibly end of January (I know it may sound peculiar, but it is indeed true!). I am 99% sure that "010913" is the compilation date of the binary, written in the US way, that is Jan 9th 2013 or 09/01/13 in European writing. If it was compiled from git-master at the time, that would make it "rtmpdump-2.4-git-3a1e20c" PS: The previous win binary hosted on the official site was this one: rtmpdump-20110925-git-6230845-win32 and was compiled by Steven Penny on Sep 25th 2011 (ergo 20110925); although the link http://rtmpdump.mplayerhq.hu/download/rtmpdump-20110925-git-6230845-win32.zip still works, it was removed at his request from plain view in Nov 2012, when his relation with Howard Chew and other rtmpdump devs turned sour - see this post: http://stream-recorder.com/forum/showpost.php?p=51324&postcount=1 Regards, Vangelis. ___ get_iplayer mailing list get_iplayer@lists.infradead.org http://lists.infradead.org/mailman/listinfo/get_iplayer

New version - excellent! Updated my previously installation perfectly, and I'm fairly sure it's not my imagination but the web pvr manager seems much more responsive. Switching betweeen the tabs is instant - not saying the 2 second delay before bothered me, but it's noticably faster.
