No volunteer for this little job? Come on, we need to get this done...

If you want to donate money, please follow the instructions at
http://gimp.org/donating/.

We would also be happy to get some feedback from your workshop. If you
see a lot of users struggling with the same problems, please let us know
about it.

I don't think that comparable functionality is a goal of the new Print
plug-in. People can always install the gutenprint plug-in if they need
this functionality. Not saying that the new Print plug-in shouldn't be
improved, but it should not be our goal to overload it until is has all
the features that the gimp-print plug-in had.

you are right if you compare an XCF and single-layered. But what about
if you just have some Jpg files (grabed from a camera for ex.) and that
you just want to optimize them to send them to some friends or
eventually put on a gallery. In this case, you have bot single-layered
(and more : same file format). And being able to see what space is eally
won regarding the loss of qualty can be nice. THis is not a esthetic
reason at all. But you are the master of it ;)

This is nice like this for me. I know some friend like to modify color
table in gifs and png-8. May be having the list of colors (like
palettes), and allowing the user to modify the colors would help them.
But may be it is a long way for a little benefit. I'm not good enough in
coding to ealuate that. Snif.

[Gimp-developer] Workshop:Gimp Artistis - donation question

2006-12-19 Thread support
Hello Gimp Developers,

I am an artist and am creating a workshop for other artists who
would like to use GIMP to create digital artwork.
I am charging $26.99 for this workshop.  I would like to
donate a portion of the proceeds to the conference.
I may also offer a download after the Feb-March session, that
would be substantially less but may still allow for a small
contribution to the developer conference fund as well.

I was directed to post to the Gimp developer list for details about
how to go about this correctly.
Are there any guidelines that I should be aware of?  What kind
of details should I provide to you prior to this project?  I look
forward to your reply.

Thank you for such a dynamic tool.  I realize that I am using
it unconventionally perhaps.

I am using the Gimp for windows version 2.2.13
This is my way of giving back to the community.  reply to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Respectfully,
GypsyOwl

In case you need more info:
I have artwork in the header at http://www.gypsyowl.org  and at
http://www.cafepress.com/gypsyowl

I have workshop information posted at http://www.gypsyowl.blogspot.com

The later of the two listed have GIMP download icons present on the
sites.  The org site is going through a rebuild and will soon be
run by the joomla content manager.

I've filed a gimp bug (#387604) on the unit factor problems (I
suspect the dialog disappearing on Print Preview is the same
problem; at least it's not easily separable from it right now).

I'm not sure which of the other problems is GtkPrint vs. GIMP,
because I'm not familiar with what GtkPrint does. Two bugs that
seem worth filing:

- Not reading the system paper size (I'm guessing this is gtkprint)
- Two different functions named Page Setup (I'm guessing this is GIMP)

Do my guesses sound right?

And a few RFEs which would be needed to get the print dialog to
functionality comparable to the existing gimp-print plug-in.
I don't know whether these belong to gtkprint or gimp:

- No way to adjust margins
- Page Setup should be in the Layout tab, not a separate dialog
- No live preview

Re: [Gimp-developer] Save for Web plug-in

2006-12-19 Thread Aurimas Juska

Hi,

It's nice to hear from someone who has actually tried working with the Save
for Web plug-in.

At some point of development info was displayed under each view, but I
didn't find original info line useful. Why do you think it would be: just
for esthetic reasons or does it have some useful functional meaning? I don't
know whether it's worth comparing file size of multilayered GIMP image and
compressed single-layered jpeg, gif or png.

However, I am sure original image dimensions should be displayed in resize
panel, so that user could restore them.

Do you think any additional information about original or optimized image
should be provided? Is the user interface intuitive enough or something
should be changed?

BTW, I tried porting the plug-in on The GIMP 2.2 but without success. In
order to try the plug-in one has to compile it for 2.3 or current CVS. If
someone got it working on The GIMP 2.2, however, please send me so I could
add it to the registry.

Really Cool,
i would be to add this in official version :-P

i just think it would be better to display optimized file infos (files
size...) just below the optimized preview.

To improve compression evaluation, it could also be nice to display
original file infos under the left preview.

What do you think of this ?
