Some days ago, I was trying to make a python-fu plugin and I really miss Blender feature that every action you do with the software, you can see what the python function/methd is for that, in Info panel (where the main menu is). I just moved the default cube and deleted it. Blender info shows: There, you can select and copy text. It would be very nice if GIMP could do that. I have the same layer. One with alpha blocked and the other with alpha transferred to mask. I paint both with a very soft white airbrush in bottom-right corner. In this image, we can see that there is a soft white peculiar stripe vertically and horizontally: When I disable mask in one layer and transfer alpha to mask in the other (and disable that mask), I realize that the soft airbrush painted a lot outside the permitted zone. [Gimp-developer] 2 ideas/suggestions and 1 bug?
Export-Wait to Enter key I don't know how to name this suggestion... I have a non-super-fast computer. When I export an image, I enter its name and press Enter... twice. Because I want to accept the name and the default export options (JPG, PNG). But... there is a little delay between GIMP receives the first Enter and when showing Export options window. In that time, Enter key is lost. But that is not the most important, when Export window is shown, I press Enter key and nothing happens. It's like another window (maybe Export file window) is on focus. So, I have to press Alt-Tab (or click with mouse) and then press Enter. This happen if I press Ctrl-N and Enter inmediatly. I don't know if this is a window manager issue or GIMP itself. My GIMP version and system: - GIMP 2.10.12 (flatpak) - Debian GNU/Linux 9.9 (stretch) - MATE Desktop Environment 1.16.2. The idea is that GIMP catches that second Enter key and uses it for the next window. Text tool When I press T key, Text tool is selected. In this mode, I can only click on text layer to edit it. If I press arrow keys (left, right, up, down) nothing happens: layer is not moved neither text cursor (because it is not in edit mode). So, why can't enter in edit mode inmediattly when I press T? Inkscape, as have Move tool in F1 key, text mode is always in edit mode. The only thing I can come up with is that, if I want to go back to Move tool by pressing V key, I couldn't do it, because it's on edit mode ("V" letter would be typed). As an idea, maybe this would be the only situation that, when pressing ESC key, text layer works as layer object and we can change to another tool. If we press T key again, it enters in edit mode again. [Gimp-developer] Font type on start/end of text
When you go to the start or end of a text that it is formatted with non-default color, size and font, these changes are not respected. So, if I have a small red text, when I start writing at the beginning of that text, new entered text appears with default type, size, font, etc (e.g. black, medium, Sans). The same if I write at end of that text For some jobs that I do with GIMP, this behavior is very annoying. I have to select all text from second character, overwrite it and, after that, go to first character and delete it. Weird workaround. Is this what it is supposed to be? I think that "default formating" is for new text, not already formatted on. Re: [Gimp-developer] Colored Quick mask also to Grayscaled images
I am pretty sure that this is not "a workaround". The surface of the image when moded GRAY only has access to the gray colors. So that gray that quickmask adopts is the red that is set in the preferences. Oh, I understand. I supposed that... but I'm not a developer, so I didn't know how exactly it works. If you are just making a selection, converting to RGB does nothing to the original colors. After the selection is made, set it back to GRAY and everything is fine. When I make a selection... I make lots of selections, not just one. And yes, the solution would be to work in RGB the whole session. Marionetas Mey Just convert it to RGB. Image->Mode->RGB Yes, this is a workaround. My suggestion is to have colored Quick Mask also in Graycaled images without converting them. *This is the main issue.* An option to change the mask to any hue we want would help. As Laxminarayan, option is in Preferences. But this options could be in Tools, when Quick Mask is enabled. Also, instead of color selection, it could be only hue selection. Something like: Additionally an option of automatic continuous slow rotation of the hue of the mask would help (in the same way marching ants help). Mmmhhh... no, I don't think this is a good idea.
