You're using the default Eazel-something GTK+ theme engine, right? I had a
similar problem (Mandrake 8.0 beta 3), both with RPM and self-compiled Gimp.
Now I use the ThinIce GTK+ theme and everything works fine. It seems to be a
broken build.

[Gimp-user] Re: Gimp-user digest, Vol 1 #78 - 11 msgs

2001-05-16 Thread maillist

Hello,
thank you for your font answers earlier this week. GDynFont works
great.
There is a particular font that we use in our logo. It is the Chevara
Font from StarOffice (Type1) I am
having a banner made and need to create a HUGE image since it will be
blown up to 3 feet wide.
Gimp will render the font just fine up to a height of 1024 pixels or
points. Any higher number causes gimp to display nothing after computing
for a while as if it is
rendering the font (the time for computation is about the same as 1024).

This is both on Redhat 6.2 with Gimp 1.? and on RedHat 7.0 with Gimp
1.2.1.

I think this may be a font server thing instead of a gimp thing. Anyone
know?

[Gimp-user] RPM vs. Compiling from source

2001-05-16 Thread Carlos Collazo

I just inherited a 200Mhz Pentium Pro machine. It will be my
learn-gimp-machine. I moved a SCSI drive with
RedHat 6.2 from a Pentium II machine to the PPRO, and all is well.

I have 2 stupid questions:

1. Should I install gimp from a binary 'i386.rpm' or should I compile
from sources?

2. If compiling from sources, how do I tell the compiler (or should I)
to optimize for the PPRO?

Thanks...
