It's fixed in the 2.4.6 release, but you will want to update to GIMP 2.6.2. See http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=317992 for all the details. [Gimp-user] Dialog Flash Screen Bug
Sven, Thanks for you reply. I have always used the newest version of gimp for these distros. #gimp --version GNU Image Manipulation Program version 2.4.5 I can't seem to find a good way to reproduce it either. It just sort of happens when it wants to. i.e. when the mouse moves, moving windows, switching windows, no user action at all This is baffling. If this problem was fixed a long time ago, could it be possible that my configuration is the loosely the problem? #lspci 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation 82P965/G965 Memory Controller Hub (rev 02) 00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82P965/G965 PCI Express Root Port (rev 02) 00:1a.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #4 (rev 02) 00:1a.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #5 (rev 02) 00:1a.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #2 (rev 02) 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 02) 00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 1 (rev 02) 00:1c.4 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 5 (rev 02) 00:1c.5 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 6 (rev 02) 00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #1 (rev 02) 00:1d.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #2 (rev 02) 00:1d.2 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #3 (rev 02) 00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #1 (rev 02) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 PCI Bridge (rev f2) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation 82801HB/HR (ICH8/R) LPC Interface Controller (rev 02) 00:1f.2 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) 4 port SATA IDE Controller (rev 02) 00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) SMBus Controller (rev 02) 00:1f.5 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) 2 port SATA IDE Controller (rev 02) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc R480 [Radeon X850XT Platinum (PCIE)] 01:00.1 Display controller: ATI Technologies Inc R480 [Radeon X850XT Platinum (PCIE)] (Secondary) 02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88E8056 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 12) 03:00.0 SATA controller: JMicron Technologies, Inc. Re: [Gimp-user] Calibrating monitors in Ubuntu
http://www.normankoren.com/makingfineprints1A.html Is the most useful page I've read on calibration...(Pretty sure I got this from this list a couple of years ago.) Jim Clark___ Gimp-user mailing list Gimp-user@lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU https://lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user
[Gimp-user] Calibrating monitors in Ubuntu
I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 / 6400 and I've done all my work on its built-in monitor. Now that I've gotten an external 22" Asus monitor, all my colours are off. What is the proper way to calibrate a monitor? Is there a reference image that one should use for calibration? I am more interested in calibrating the external Asus against a known reference implementation than against the Dell's internal monitor. [Gimp-user] compiled version of separate+
I am new to Gimp, but it looks great. I have downloaded the latest version and am using mac os x. I now need to convert images from rgb to cmyk. I am wondering if there is a version (compiled or otherwise) of separate+ for the mac os? Any other ideas on how to convert these images - I am sure this is a common need of users. -- Rob ___ Gimp-user mailing list Gimp-user@lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU https://lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user

This is not an image I took but one sent to Your problem is not clear to me, it could be one or both of two things : a) parts of image have been 'burnt out' by the flash (in which case, there is no information that *can* be restored, or b) there are strange highlights across the entire picture caused by the glass in case a) you might be able to use 'resynthesizer' plugin to synthesize detail for the burnt out areas based on surrounding textures. In case b) you could first adjust the white-balance to seem more natural, and then create a layer in 'subtract' mode filled with white -- start painting with a fuzzy brush on that layer, trying to directly counteract the highlighted areas. There may be simpler solutions. I'm pretty sure there is not a solution as easy as you're looking for. [Gimp-user] Flash flare
Hi I am relatively new to doing much beyond cropping, I have learnt to correct the white balance etc recently. I was wondering whether there was a plug in or built in tool that would remove the flare of flash when something is photographed behind glass. This is not an image I took but one sent to me to put of a web site, it is not something she can go back and re-photograph.
